1985 Rigged Draft

The only reason I still watch the NBA is because I like to watch the game of basketball performed by the highest quality players. I don't take the league itself seriously at all.

A statistic I've always found interesting is that from 1980-present there have only been 9 different NBA champion teams*. To compare, Major League Baseball has had 9 different winners in the past 10 years, and the NFL has 9 in 11 years.

it was def rigged. I don't think it happens every year, just when sure fire superstars are available. The nets won the lottery in 2000. K mart was their pick coming off a broken leg. That was a shit draft.

Seriously, if you are supposed to pick out an envelope, who grabs three envelopes, flips them over, then picks out one from the three already in their hand? Its ridiculous.

How hard is it to pick out one envelope and open it? I know Stern is retarded, but this is odd behavior even for him.

I guess you havent noticed this but the drawing was just between Indiana and NY. All the others teams had already been decided. So to keep our conspiracy theory up they folded the corners of all the ones that were New York Knicks enevelopes.:gayrod:


In the NBA draft lottery teams are assigned a certain number of chances to get a pick. Its not just one envelope/ball per team.

Look at the screen when David Stern picks up the envelope you can see that La Clippers already have been drawn for the number 3 pick. This was the final drawing which solely decided who gets Patrick Ewing and what loser ends up with Wayman Tisdale at 2.

Im sure if the Pacers had a crystal ball they wouldve drafted Karl Malone at 2 instead of Tisdale. They went on to trade Tisdale some years later to Sacramento for Lasalle Thompson (lottery bust) and Randy Wittman (role player).

I wish Stern would do something this year, because I really don't want to see Anthony Davis go to Charlotte. BTW, Charlotte has been bad for a long time, which means they've had a lot of lottery pics.....why is it Augustin is their best player? I like Augistin, but he has no business being your best player when you've pretty much had a lottery pic your entire existence. They need some new personel guys badly.

I don't think the Ewing draft was rigged, but I can see why it would be, so meh. I don't agree with the conspiracy theory of sending Duncan to San Antonio.

I remember the Howard/Okafor debates. They were do you draft a scrawny highschool kid with potential or do you draft the proven defensive stalwart? LOL. In fairness to the Bobcats Okafor was the next best prospect on the board. As for Morrison I really don't know what to say. I did think he'd at least be a serviceable guy off the bench, but he isn't even that. I had a lot of debates on another forum about him.....guy called me a racist, because I felt Morrison was going to below average at best.
