1st Round: Chicago Blackhawks vs. Phoenix Coyotes

Kind of funny that Gary Bettman was in the stands to witness this "disgrace". It was a very strange game. Don't know how the officials missed the blatant cheap shot from Torres. One of the officials was looking right at it from a distance of about 10 feet. Then the Blackhawks ended up being short-handed. The game was intense up until that point, then both teams turned it down a few notches after Hossa left the ice. The refs was unbelievable, because after the Hossa incident they would call penalties for no reason whatsoever. The phantom roughing penalty on Toews at the end of the 2nd was laughable, considering Mike Smith hit Sharp in the neck with his blocker as Sharp was skating past him.

What cost Chicago the game, outside of Crawford, was the unexplainable off-setting penalties in the 3rd period that led to two Phoenix goals. So, flipping up a puck that hits a player in the back is a 2-minute penalty, but leaving your feet to deliver a shoulder-to-head shot that leaves a player hospitalized is ok.

I think the series MAY have been different had Hossa not gotten taken out, because IMO Hossa is Chicago's best all-around player and makes the stiffs around him better. That said, the Blackhawks flaws in this series have been the same as the regular season. They just aren't that good. The last goal given up by Crawford was comical...the Coyote player didn't even get a stick on the puck once he passed the blue line, the puck just glided between Crawford's pads and into the goal.
 
I didn't listen to my sports gut on this one. Knew Phoenix was going to do well and were not shit, but decided on the Hawks. I doubted the beast that is Mike Smith. Insane this series is all OT's as well.


Has anyone else sat there and thought about how funny it sounds that Phoenix, St. Louis and LA are up 3-1. I don't know why it is to me, just one of those "get out of here" thoughts.
 
Not surprised at all, the west is ridiculous this season. Anybody can beat anybody, the teams that are more physical, play better D and have better goaltending are winning.

I have no idea what happened to the team last night. The first two periods they played lights out just couldnt get it past Smith, I go into work and get updates from my fiance that they were down 4-0 and Kaner got a 10 min misconduct....what in the fuck.
