And to top it off, they chose to replace him with Jose Theodore.

I really wanted to give them credit for actually spending money, but that right there is ridiculous.

If you listened or saw quotes from the first day press conference, GMGM did not let on that he was in negotiations for a goalie. He said that Holtby and Neuvirth would battle it out.

That means that Vokoun fell into our laps with that offer. I imagine the Caps did their due diligence by offering it, but he either wanted to go to a contender or that was the best offer. I can't believe that Vokoun didn't get a better offer though, even in a market that has been weak towards goalies in years past. Vokoun is still a top flight goalie, and the Caps got him for a steal.
 
Sounding like Vokoun had other offers but went with the caps because they had the best chance at a cup and didn't want to handicap them to some massive contract.
 
Now that Washington has a legitimate goalie there is absolutely no excuse for them not getting to at least the Cup finals next year IMO, if they fail to make it there I think Boudreau's gone for sure.

He wasn't resigning with the panthers anyways. I think they tried to find someone to take him this past season but there were no takers.

He was just going on a rampage yestarday on twitter about the leafs this and that and it's like the guy has no clue about sports. I try to ignore him as much as possible but when I see people retweeting his bs all the time I just shake my head. On the flip side a lot of the comments made towards his retardedness was hilarious.

I think Boudreau is on an extremely short lesh. If there are signs of anything taking a downturn, he'll be gone. I am actually extremely surprised that we kept him.

I remember how that experiment went horribly wrong for the Avs save for one playoff series when he played well.. then I think Detroit hung like 15-20 goals on him in 3 games and that was that.
 
Philippe Dupuis has reportedly agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs that will pay him $650,000 at the NHL level.
Dupuis had six goals, 11 assists and 40 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season. If he cracks the Leafs' lineup out of training camp then he could end up as the club's fourth-line center.

Vokoun didn't want to go back to Florida. He wanted to go to a contender.

I think he thought he'd be worth more on the open market, too.

Guys, realize, its SOUTH FLORIDA.

A) No one wants to go to SOUTH FLORIDA to play HOCKEY...no one gives a fug and the team has sucked for over a decade (as bad as bad gets in sports, really).

B) If someone is to go to SOUTH FLORIDA, its going to be for over the market value...its just simple rules of life...its like a player going to the Lions...they won't go to Detroit if the same offer is out there from the Patriots.
 
The New York Rangers and Brandon Dubinsky avoided an arbitration hearing by agreeing to terms on a four-year deal reportedly worth $16.8 million.

The reported average value of the new deal doubles the $2 million salary that he earned last season.

The 25-year-old native of Anchorage, Alaska is coming off the best of his four NHL seasons, netting career highs with 24 goals and 30 assists for the Rangers.

Dubinsky and the Rangers were originally scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on Thursday in Toronto.

New York originally had an NHL-high four players scheduled for arbitration hearings. They have now signed three of them without going to a hearing - Brian Boyle, Michael Sauer, and Dubinsky. Ryan Callahan remains New York's lone unsigned restricted free agent, with a hearing scheduled for July 28.
