okay so maybe not super bowl winners but I couldn't come up with anything more clever for the title and needed to refer to the subject matter!
anyway, I've been thinking about this for a while, and after watching many bears games this year, i'm convinced that the team just really isn't as bad as the numbers indicate. i'm not the kind of guy who cares much for stastics in football, i think theres something intangible you can see in players and teams after you've been following the sport for some time.
Jay Cutler can't be this bad. His attitude is shit and he comes across as a whiny little bitch pretty much everytime he speaks. his scowl face is wicked, I feel like if he pouted like that and wasnt a quarterback he would have had the shit kicked out of him daily growing up. That being said, when the guy is on, he is really on. Ive seen him make some incredible throws through the years, he has all the physical tools you want. He is learning that life outside of Shannahans offense is hard. Ron Turner is toast, just not the kind of offense and not the quality of coordinator that can maximize Cutler.
So assuming it goes down like everyone knows it will and Turner is axed at the end of the year, let's see who Lovie brings to town. I think Smith and Angelo get one more year. I wouldn't be surprised at one of those splashy coordinator types that almost undermines the HC. I don't think Lovie has the kind of leverage left with the team to stop something like that from happening. theres also the possibility that Angelo panic fires Smith and hires some young offensive assistant type. Who knows. point is, the offense is gonna change, and it can't help but get better.
Toss in a few quality defensive draft picks after a first round wideout and maybe also throwing money at one, and this is gonna be a really good team. The bears are unreal this year. I can hardly beleive this is the Jay Cutler I saw in Denver. He can't be this bad. He just can't. Has a preseason superbowl contender that tanked ever seemed so easily fixable? throwing in a cupcake's schedule next year, assuming favre leaves minnesota, they can't help but make the playoffs in the weak NFC.
