2013 AFC Wildcard Game: #5 Indianapolis Colts at #4 Baltimore Ravens

I just got home. It was an incredible experience to be there and something I'll always remember.

Ravens seemed to shake up Luck early and he never really got into any kind of groove. Colts receivers other than Wayne didn't really help out, and some awful defense there too.

Great send off to Ray, but I don't think they'll win next week. Offense put up three TDs but was anyone really impressed with them? Flacco was basically just lobbing up prayers and Boldin somehow managed to keep coming down with them. Can't imagine that happens next week. They aren't going to rattle Peyton like they did Luck, either.

Bottom line is this was a seasoned playoff team against a rookie making his first playoff start, in one of the toughest stadiums to win at in the NFL, in front of an emotional crowd that was perhaps the loudest I've ever heard it in the 10 years I've had season tickets. I don't know that you can take a lot from this one and project it to next week...

This is how I felt as well.

Indianapolis left some points on the board today but they didn't play bad. What you have here is a talented team that, like you said, is a seasoned playoff team with HOF cornerstones like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed facing a team of castoffs and rookies that have truthfully played above their talent level.

Indianapolis looked young out there today, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Luck didn't play all that bad, but some guys had pretty poor/rookie games out there and Indianapolis needed them to step up big if they were going to have any chance in this game. Hopefully Indianapolis can go out in FA or the draft and find some legitimate offensive lineman, and continue to build this young team. It's been painfully clear all season that the load on Luck's shoulders is just too much, and with such little help from the offensive line (as evidenced today with pass protection), in games like this against legitimate competition it's extremely hard for them to compete.

Some guys for the team really need to get their stuff together for next season. Guys like Avery and Fleener, Powers, Bethea.

This was likely the last game you'll see Dwight Freeney in a Colt's uniform as well. Ever since the scheme switch the man has in large part been invisible. I didn't hear his name today, and the real pass rush threat this year has been Mathis.

I know Phil Simms doesn't think so, but I believe losing Arians today probably hurt. Luck's go to guy is gone and Indianapolis' offense looked a little different today. A lot safer playcalling, and they didn't take a lot of deep shots like they usually do. You can attribute this to the pressure, but Luck has been pressured all year. It bothered me a little because early on Baltimore made it clear they were going to play with 8 guys in the box the majority of the time. and at that point you know there's holes behind the front 7 but Indianapolis never really made significant attempts to punish Baltimore for it.

If Arians does get a HC gig I hope Indianapolis goes out and finds a real offensive coordinator. Christensen is not the guy, he wasn't in 2010 with Manning, he damn sure wasn't in 2011, and I don't think he ever will be the guy.

Dwayne Allen is a stud and if he continues to progress he's going to be a top 3 TE in this league.

what were you looking at ? They dropped passes all over the place and no pass protect at all. Its called sucking.

..and they didnt score a TD either
 
They've played worse games this season against worse teams.

Good season and Hard to get upset with a young rebuilding team failing to play perfect on the road against an annual playoff team that probably should have went to the superbowl last year.

Luck didn't throw the game away, the turnovers were minute today, the defense forced two fumbles, and they ran the ball decently today. What I saw today wasn't one team "sucking", what I saw was a Veteran Team beating a less talented and younger team.

I'm excited for next year.

I had no faith in the brokedick Ravens. The AFC is REALLY bad this year. The Bengals and Colts both made the playoffs.

To be honest when I picked the Colts, Ray Lewis wasn't playing and I thought Chuckstrong would pull out the upset.

Sort of wish I read BazookaJoe's post before I bet on the Colts because I would of went Ravens instead.
