#THEWOLF was more entertaining and will have INFINITE rewatchability. On a Goodfellas, Scarface type level where you can just watch that shit a million times no matter how ridiculous you finally see it as.

Hustle was a very good film for those that are more into the subtly of film. It just lacked the big payoff.

Plot was dry as fuck, and a movie with that kind of star power and charisma should not be as uninteresting as it was. Could have easily been a half hour shorter, too. Not a single memorable scene in over two hours with that cast?

What's funny is David O. Russell was trying to do this too ... just ended up making a third rate one. The best description for AH is if a bunch of A-listers (no Olyphant here) wanted to do "scene night" at a local acting workshop and chose partners.

AH is less of a movie and more of a series of moderately humorous vignettes featuring likable actors in goofy costumes.

I chuckled once. When he was mocking/mimicking Louis CK after they thought they set up the lawyer.

I like how they also tried to shoe horn in every song from 1978 whether it fit the scene or not.

The more I think about it, the more I flat out disliked the movie. Would never sit through it again.

12 years a slave was so fucking overrated.

It's brilliantly executed and an important historical piece of our culture that needs to be heard or watched but the movie itself while powerful is simple, unoriginal, and left something to be desired for when talking about best picture of the year, for me. It's definitely up there but just not the one I would personally choose.

Captain Phillips, Gravity and Wolf of Wall Street are the only BP nominees I would ever watch again.

And can we all please stop acting like Jared Leto redefined acting by putting on some heels, makeup, wig and a dress?

DiCaprio and Hill both deserve the acting Oscars since Hanks isn't nominted.

Sarah Paulson was robbed of a supporting actress nod for 12 Years.

Out of the films I've seen so far, captain Phillips was the most enjoyable and sucked me in the most. Hanks was fantastic.

Leo was great but I feel like I've seen so much of that side of Leo that I now take it for granted.

Jonah Hill was doing a goofy caricature. It felt like an SNL character.

I like Wolf, but the movie had a goofy feel that almost made it seem like a comedy. I think Scorsese's other stuff, particularly Goodfellas & Casino, walked this line without crossing it. Wolf was zany all the way through, which made the scene where Leo gut punches his wife pretty jarring, to the point it felt out of place. I enjoyed it, a lot, but i'm not sure anything about it is Oscar worthy. Least of all Hill.

I would argue if anything turned Jordan and Donny into caricatures it was Belfort's book.

I felt like Hill and DiCaprio did a great job of bringing the absurdity of that book to life.

And I had no problem with it skewing comedic, it's actually my favorite things about the movie.

Everything in these guys' life of opulence was a big joke, which I thought fell thematically in line with the film.

I am glad #TheWolf went comedic. There are movies like Goodfellas and Casino that skew comedic after I've seen it a few times anyway...I am glad The Wolf got right to it so I can appreciate it for what it really is on first view.

If you made the story straight forward, you would have complained similarly to the way you complained about #Hustle, Warner, that it was "too dry".

Oddly, the best scene in Hustle was DeNiro, who has been mailing it in for years, & the fake sheik at the sit down. That had real tension. Meanwhile, you had Jennifer Lawrence & Richard Harrow doing a parody of his beer commercials in the other room.

And just because people are comparing, Wolf of Wall St smokes American Hustle.

Marty fucked around a little, made a second rate Goodfellas, and still blew Russell out of the water. Don't fuck with Marty. He's the best.

Wait till you see his next film, it's gonna feature DeNiro and Dicaprio.

Serious question. What is DeNiro's rep in a world without Marty? And as good as Leo is, and he's very good, he gets the very best out of him, too.

And Joe Pesci is an absolute non entity otherwise.

You can make a pretty long list of actors who had their best performance(s) under the direction of Scorsese.

Ha! I thought that was one of the worst scenes. I enjoyed the tension, but the fake sheik didn't answer any of hos questions and they still wound up going along with him. It made no sense...

Watched "Her" today. No re-watchability. Explored some interesting territory. Jonze definitely went for it with an ambitious, social commentary driven movie, but I just don't think it was particularly entertaining.

To me, it's not gonna top dat #Wolf for me. I enjoy movies for the escapism aspect, and that was the most fun I've had escaping into a movie this year.

From the start I think it was trying to be about the two concepts being at odds. I guess it was more about tech though if I had to say what I interpreted the statement as.

Saw DBC last night. Fantastic film. MM was great, at times I forgot that it was actually him because he dropped most of usual antics for this role. Leto was ok, overrated though for the most part.

Definitely one of the best films I've seen this year. Right there with 12YAS as favorites to win best film. Really can't go wrong with either, both are superior to all the others I've seen.

Yeah. I never felt like I was part of the ride. I was always observing from afar, wondering when I'd have a reason to join in on the fun. The plot never grabbed me and made me root for any one particular character or outcome. When end credits rolled I was just like "fucking finally, I have to pee."

Comparing it to Scorsese, his stuff works(partially) because he starts with a bunch of short energetic scenes one after the other, which explains the "ride" sensation. The first part is basically a movie trailer and things don't get serious until later on.

American Hustle started off with long emotional scenes featuring dissapointed, boring, down and out characters, that's not how it's done...David O. Russell didn't do his homework. Huge disappointment after The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook.
