Cant believe the real hockey fans in here are not playing 2K10... cmon EAs arcade bullshit is dire offline, OK it has the EASHL cheesefest and that can be fun with the right teams etc

2K10 destroys 10 offline though.

Before anyone posts, im going to type up the next 10 as a prediction into notepad and see if I can pre-empt this EA sausage fest.

Even OS with all its nob jockeys, at least has a core of hockey fans that can respect a good game... VSN is a shambles, its like you are all lubed up waiting for the EA length to seed your arses.

I have not played 2k10 but I have played the previous games. Reading the reviews it still suffers from the same problems as past when it comes to gameplay (magnet puck, one timers are still the only way to score ect).

This from the IGN article is what worries me:

Franchise has likely seen the most changes from NHL 2K9, but it's still a relatively bare bones experience with no hiring or firing staff members, no trading mid-draft, and no scouting upcoming talent. The biggest change that you'll see to franchise mode is dynamic player progression. It's very cool to see your players get better after each season, but I can't help but think that some mid-season modification would have helped. If a player is on a hot streak I'd like to see his stats make the necessary jump. The rest of the cool touches that were in last year's franchise mode (like playoff beards) are in this year, and yes, you can still ride around Zambonis during intermission between periods.

I'm mainly an offline guy who has started to play more online as it is just plain fun with the team I play with.

EA's offline stuff is great. The GM Mode is excellent in the way it delivers in the whole trading frenzy that has been associated with the league the last few years. The trade block is done quite well and isn't just the ol put this player on the trade block and the other teams automatically give you results.

Progression is done nice and even your goalies will start to lose stats if you don't rest them once in a while.

As much as I dislike EA in general (they tend to mess up games that I enjoy). Their hockey game is the best of all sports games going right now. I will bash madden as much as possible because its shit but I will not bash NHL10 because EA did it right.

I will add this to it as well.

The boosts and shit that they have put into the online (and offline Be A Pro) bugs me. I see it as more of a money grab and a classic EA thing to do. I hate the fact that I'm basically at the point where I'm going to have to spend more money on dumb things just so I can keep up with some people. I simply don't have the time it requires to get some of the boosts that I want.

I also hate playing people that have stupid hats and wierd colored shit when I play them. It only shows up online though so it isn't all bad. Offline you could just not use boosts and keep it as real as possible.

The graphics and presentation look pretty good. I notice it looks like they have a turbo bar however.. how is that not arcade? I think NHL is a high class game because NHL2k10 is in direct competition which is good for us hockey fans. Noway is NHL2k10 better right now tho.

NHL10 actually has a new slider system with the ability to change basically everything. So basically you know nothing about what NHL10 offers and are just some silly 2K fan boy.

Wouldnt bother posting videos, I could rip about 100 from EA Sports World that destroys all the 'sim' aspect of NHL 10.

NHL 10 is not sim offline, GM Mode fuck off... Franchise on 2K wanks over that, and even though its not perfect.

Gameplay... well sliders, use them. Im sure you tweak the one or two that are included in the EA game.... do the same with 2K... speed boost, well it can be turned off if you dont like it, but at least not everyone is the same pace as they are on EAs game. Comeback code, magnetic animations....stupid goalies (again)... i appreciate people like different games, you get idiots who by 2K9 over the Show, or Live over 2K9... but 2K10 is miles ahead of NHL 10 for offline sim gaming.

Id ignore the EA review sites like IGN, Gamespot etc... anyone who seriously takes their $$$ reviews needs to have a word with themselves.

Of course my first post in here was to ignite it a little, but seriously IF you like sim hockey and like offline gaming... play 2K. Its that simple, 10 is miles behind.

Take EASHL out of 10 and you have a tea matt.

Your playing a game that when players get hit they magically keep the puck with them like some sort of superman. You have an arcade 2 on 2 mode and you can ride the fuckin zambonies during intermission.

I actually played 2K 10 three years ago on the Playstation when it was called NHL 07.

It's honestly no surprise anyone replied seriously to this thread because the sentiment of it is a WTF moment for everyone who came into it. The developers advertise it as a party game, and it's like they built it on the Wii then ported it to the XBox and PS3. The only plausible explanation is that you're in some sort of alternative universe from the rest of us.
