I wouldn't go that far, but they are of the best the game has ever had. His drop rate, considering the number of balls thrown his way, is ridiculously good. He, Reggie Wayne, and Anquan Boldin, of recent vintage, had the best group of hands in football.

Meanwhile, of players of recent vintage in this thread...Terrell Owens has one of the worst drop rates among elite receivers since they started tracking it.

FWIW, I'd rank Fitzgerald over Owens in any All-Time list. Better hands, better teammate. Won't put up the stats (mostly, touchdowns) that Owens received over his career, but just a better football player. And, while his sample size is small, on a per-game basis, there may not be a better post-season wide receiver. Only six games (over two playoff appearances), but he averages 7 catches, for 118 yards, and 1.5 touchdowns in the playoffs.

Fitzgerald is the quintessential Franchise guy. I remember a few years ago they were criticizing his training camp "work ethic" because he didn't do much outside of driving golf carts around. The funny thing is the guy trains above and beyond most other players in the NFL, embraces playing for a shit franchise and is always open to interaction with the fans (in person, twitter, facebook, anywhere), and you always see him pop up at charity events and the like while always showing producing on the field. No ego, and a ridiculously good public image makes it very strange that no teams have ever made a serious go at him through a trade (I do remember a Lito Shepard/1st round pick for Fitz deal in 2011 though).

Brown Ill agree. But not Reed , I think he and Rison were essentially the same WR with Rison being a tad better in the RedZone Reed being a bit tougher across the middle.

That still doesn't have anything to do with his play, and he has never made a quarterback better. At best, his results are inconclusive, but he still has never won anything. on my memory alone why would anyone put Rison ahead of Reed ? I honestly don't care if he had similar stats nor am I wasting time looking them up now. Reed served a better purpose on a better team throughout his career.

Carson Palmer was a worse quarterback in Arizona that he was in Oakland. He threw 8 more interceptions than the year before and had like 200 yards more passing and a couple more TD's but he also played 1 more game.

Boldin was Warners primary receiver, comparing Boldin and Fitzgeralds stats during the Warner time was essentially a trade off with one guy doing better than the other some years but at worst you have to give both guys credit.

Joe Flacco had an amazing postseason during his superbowl run but nobody believes he is an elite quarterback.

Fitzgerald is wildly overrated and this is coming from a guy who watched 8 Cardinal games a year minimum for the last 6 years. His father the beat writer taught him how to manage the media extremely well so his image is pristine and he sells lots of shit to people in Phoenix but that guy is about his money, not winning.
