The Lions won't take an offensive lineman. Not because we don't need one, since we've needed one for the last 7 years and have only taken Cherilus (who is an awful OT). But because our management thinks that our OL is awesome. By the way, our 1st overall QB is out because he was destroyed by Julius Peppers who went right around our starting OT Jeff Backus.

May not be an OT worthy of top 5 consideration. Why overreach when you can get a potential stud corner or pass rusher?

I don't care how you pronounce it and yes he allowed a completion. Which is more than what PP7 has allowed in 2 games. The fact that they even try the guy shows he isn't much of a threat. No one even tries to throw it near PP7 side of the field.

I realize some of these picks may be reaches at this point but when I make these early mock drafts I do it based on need rather than BPA. That will lead to some rising and falling with draft position.

Not putting Patrick Peterson in the top 7 has been incredibly hard for me.

8. St Louis Rams

Patrick Peterson CB LSU Jr

Peterson is arguably the top defensive player in the country providing excellent cover skills and playmaking ability. He's also a dangerous weapon in the return game. The Rams have plenty of needs but bolstering their secondary seems to be at the top of the list.

Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma RS Jr- big play WR who has a ton of experience with Sam Bradford

Nick Fairley is an animal, and so is Marcel Dareus, but neither is the top DL in the SEC. That honor belongs to Big Drake Nevis.

And I doubt Julio Jones goes top 3, or even top 5. Doesn't have the production to match his jaw-dropping measurables.

Are you referring to the hall of famer? What he lacked in athletism, he made up for with IQ, and his desire to play the game. If you ever have the chance to meet Ryan Mallett, you'll realize he doesn't have any of that. He's a giant paycheck waiting to happen - he's David Carr with an attitude problem.

A lot of teams will overlook the production especially considering the team had a Heisman Trophy winning RB and and another RB who could win a Heisman in Trent Richardson.

9. Oakland Raiders

Bruce Carter OLB North Carolina Senior

You never really know what to expect when the Raiders are on the clock. Most times they'll vastly overestimate measurables and reach for players but then they'll throw you a curveball and actually make a smart selection like they did last year with Rolando McClain. I expect the Raiders to make another smart selection in 2011 and try to help their weak rush defense. Bruce Carter is the kind of linebacker that fits well in the Raiders defensive scheme with his aggressive play style and solid athleticism. He also will fill in nicely replacing Thomas Howard who apparently has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff.

Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa Senior

Adrian Clayborn is a player who can succeed as a DE in either the 3-4 or the 4-3 in my opinion. Denver is in serious need of an upgrade along the defensive line and they will benefit from taking the athletic playmaker in Clayborn.

Mark Ingram RB Alabama Jr- Despite recently taking Knowshon Moreno in the 1st round, this team lacks a threat in the running game.

Mark Ingram RB Alabama Junior

Cedric Benson has been a nice pickup for the Bengals as of late but it's hard to argue that the running back position in Cincy could be upgraded. Mark Ingram is a powerful runner who is dangerous in space that should keep defenses near the line of scrimmage and open up the deep passing game.
