If he pushed a police officer then he should have been arrested. I didn't hear/see that.
Either way, he'd lawyer up and get it all reduced to an infraction for disturbing the peace or something minor. Let's not kid ourselves. And like you said, all the paperwork, money, and time wasted on this wouldn't be worth it to anyone which is why it wouldn't stick. Law enforcement officials and the court system won't want to spend any time on something like this.
Peterson himself wouldn't have to do a damn thing, he'd just get his lawyer to handle everything for him and the cost to him would be insignificant.

Most of what is done in law enforcement "wouldn't be worth it to anyone." Countless hours are spent on babysitting drunks, handling idiots, and processing minor offenders. Laws are enforced because they are laws, not because they are profitable. Regardless, my point was that it looks like the charges were less than they could have been.

The legal field isn't a fucking John Grisham novel. People who have the money get the best lawyers they can regardless of the situation. They aren't sitting around saying "Well, maybe I should put my life and career in jeopardy and just take this wise cracking southern dude that seems to have a way with people!"
