Everett Shoots The Tigers In The Foot With 2 Throwing Errors In Series Opener

The Tigers dropped the first game of the set with the Indians, who picked up the victory on the road. The Tigers lost an AL Central battle to the Indians by a final score of 4-1. Providing the only offense for the Tigers tonight, was Miguel Cabrera, who went 2 for 3 with a solo home run. However, what hurt the most was two throwing errors by Adam Everett on routine ground balls. In the 5th inning, with 2 outs, Grady Sizemore was able to reach first on a throwing error. The Tigers would've been able to get out of the inning unscathed but unfortunately, Mark Derosa would double and Victor Martinez come in and belt a 3 run shot before the Tigers got the 3rd out. That wasn't the end of it though. In the 7th, Asdruabal Cabrera was able to reach second on an Everett throw that ended up in the stands. Derosa would bring Cabrera in on an RBI single. None of the Indians 4 runs were counted as earn runs to pitchers Jeremy Bonderman and Edwin Jackson.

Santiago Unhappy With Tigers; Seeking "Change Of Scenery"

Detroit Tigers shortstop Ramon Santiago said today he's unhappy with the team's direction and wants to be traded.

"I've been with the Tigers for a couple years now and things haven't gone in the direction that I was expecting, so I think the best thing will be a change of scenery," Santiago told reporters.

"I've done many things with this team and I haven't seen results," explained Santiago who hasn't quite played up to par since the Tigers brought in Adam Everett this offseason through free agency.

There are rumors that the Tigers are ready to accomodate Santiago's needs as he has been nothing more than a nuinsance in the dugout and out on the field. With the increased amount of playing time that came along with Placido Polanco's broken forearm injury a little less than a month ago, Santiago has struggled, batting just .083 on the year.

Talks between the Tigers and the struggling 4-18 Rangers have began as the Rangers have been openly shopping Michael Young, who is on a lengthy 5 year contract.

It would be a cost cutting move for the Rangers but the Rangers have expressed a strong interest in bolstering their pitching rotation. Armando Galarraga hasn't exactly busted out of the gates so far this season (1-1 , 3.38 ERA) after leading the Tigers in wins a season ago and could be the bait the Tigers use to lure Young to the Motor City.​

The Tigers dropped another one at home to the Indians today, who have taken the first two games of the set.

It was a bad day at the home yard for the Tigers, who lost fairly easily to the Indians, 7-3 after a huge 5 run 8th inning rally by the visitors. Miguel Cabrera was a catalyst on offense, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Rick Porcello looked solid working 7 innings before getting crushed in the 8th. Porcello allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, and lost his first game of the season as his record fell to 2-1.

The Tigers and Indians will wrap things up tomorrow afternoon, with the Tigers sending Dontrelle Willis (3-0 , 3.00 ERA) to the hill while Zach Jackson (2-0 , 1.32 ERA) will toe the rubber for the visiting Indians. Josh Anderson will look to build on his 10-game hitting streak.

Curtis Granderson slides into home plate for 1 of his 2 runs. Unfortunately, not enough to prevent the sweep to the Indians.

Shoddy bullpen work torpedoed the Tigers as the Indians swept the series in front of the hometown fans.

The Tigers dropped a right contest, losing the AL Central matchup by the score of 6-5. Joel Zumaya came into the game with the score tied, and promptly allowed 1 run on 2 hits and was pinned with the loss in relief of starter Dontrelle Willis. Marcus Thames picked up 2 RBI and went 2 for 4 with a double, providing an offensive spark.

Things We Did Well:

- Nothing. We got swept, at home. This series was brutal.

Things We Didn't Do Well:

- Since when did we start giving up home runs left and right? They hit 6 in the series, 3 in the last game alone. Can't win if you keep letting them go yard. Keep the ball down.

- This was probably our worst series as far this season as hitting the ball goes. We faced the bottom of their pitching lineup, avoided Lee and Carmona, and still hit a dismal .246.

- 4.33 ERA is also the highest ERA of any series up to this point in the season. Goes back to giving up too many home runs.​
