It of course means win multiple times, it doesnt have to be a championship. Both Dan Marino and Trent Dilfer are elite to me. All your stat arguments and game manager accusations dont mean shit when you never played the game at the highest level. They have and won or nearly won the ultimate prize. That is an elite QB. That said, when you are the the winning QB on the winning team for that one game, you are elite for that one day no matter what anyone says. Especially the trolling pinheads who post here

Today, two Super Bowl clutch performances later, I have an entirely different opinion of Eli Manning.

His numbers? Don't overwhelm me.

His demeanor and stature: Same

His clutch Super Bowl play (twice) and continued excellence > than perception.

Eli Manning has one more SB than Peyton Manning.

What if David Tyree doesn't trap that hail mary on the side of his helmet? There was nothing inherently clutch about that play, he just heaved the ball up in a situation where an INT was no different than taking the sack or throwing it away. Is he still CLUTCH if he's 1-1?

If anything, it was Tyree who made the clutch play.

If you honestly can't figure out how good, great or bad a player at any position in any sport is after watching say ... a couple of years of the sport as a whole and 5-10 full games of the individual, then sports message boards weren't designed for you.

Trent Dilfer was never close to elite.

He was a pretty lousy player on TB early in his career (before losing his job to SHAUN KING), and then was mediocre at best with Baltimore. The year the Ravens won the Super Bowl, most people don't remember this, but Trent Dilfer lost a camp battle to TONY BANKS, who started the first 9 games. At the end of his career, as Dilfer bounced around between Seattle & Cleveland, he was decent in his role as gatekeeper/gritty veteran backup leader guy.

So, you are going to tell me that a guy who lost jobs to Shaun King & Tony Banks was elite, because in one game, his all time defense beat the living shit out of the Giants and he managed to throw a bomb to Brandon Stokely? That's your argument?
