For the few people on VSN who will be trying out the PC beta, you can preload it on the 29th at 10AM PT, and you must have a 64-bit OS (retail will run on both 32- and 64-bit machines).

Squad Rush is no more. Instead, we have a game mode from CS called Defuse.

Combat type: Competitive close quarters combat
Designed for: 5 vs. 5 players (all platforms)
Commander mode: No

The other new game mode making its debut in Battlefield 4, Defuse is a highly competitive and lethal. Each player is given a single life per round, every shot fired having the potential to drastically change the outcome. Teams can win by eliminating the enemy squad, or arming and detonating a military objective that they own (similar to the M-COM stations in Rush mode.)

Built from the ground up and designed to cater to the most competitive Battlefield players, Defuse provides a distinctly new flavor to Battlefield that stands in stark contrast to other modes like Rush and Conquest. Each player can only be revived once per round, and players who have been eliminated will be following the rest of the showdown from the sidelines.

DICE Reveals Full List Of Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Maps

DICE has revealed the full list of multiplayer maps coming Battlefield 4, and offered a single screenshot showcasing new map Zavod 311.

Battlefield 4's maps will take players to China, Shanghai, a stormy ocean, a flooded city, and the woods, as you can see in the screen above. Zavod 311 takes place in and around an abandoned Cold War tank factory that houses an active warhead. The warhead be detonated to open up new navigation options in the level. DICE today also revealed the full list of multiplayer modes coming to Battlefield 4, which you can check out here.

I played about ten minutes on PC, and I'm downloading it on my PS3. The PC version looks good and runs well on whatever it defaulted to for my rig. There aren't many weapons and attachments from what I saw, and I'm not sure if you can unlock more during the course of the beta.

One word of caution if you play Assault, the default medpack will go flying way farther than you expect. So make sure you're pointing at the ground before you throw it.

Take the game off of auto-aim (luckily it's going to be a grind to even reach Level One so far), avoid n00b t00bs and chuck band-aids... INSTANT LOVE.

Played a few rounds with Rylo and it feels definitely like more BF with more emphasis on shooting through pinholes for headshots on the Beta.

Squad Spawn's cool with the roaming camera feed showing what's going on in front of them is great... until they get flanked.

Speaking of which... SPAWN TRAPPING is going to be an issue in a few days since the map they're letting us play on is small enough to walk over to either spawn and ask for a cup of sugar from the enemy.

Also, I imagine there's gonna be a couple of angry hate mail letters speaking on how the starter sniper rifle is too weak when everyone's aiming for a limb shot and not for the melon.

AK's feel more powerful (RPM-wise, I'd imagine so at short-to-mid range) if you swap to single shot.

There's lag time from tossing C4 (back to Recons... :fap: ) to detonation so do note that when you want to get a multi-kill.

I played the PS3 beta last night, and while it runs and feels fine, I don't like the texture popping and relatively small draw distance combination. For example, when I went to the roof of that shopping center with the car showroom and looked down, the bridge on the second floor connecting the two sides didn't appear unless I aimed down sights. Stuff like that is definitely more pronounced in this beta than anything I've seen from BC2 or BF3.

I don't think I'm going to play much more of the beta unless DICE throws out a patch or something, but I really hope they increase the amount of time before a downed player cannot be revived. Currently, you can barely revive a guy who dies within ten or so meters of your position, and there's a high risk of getting yourself killed in the process because you won't have time to clear the area beforehand.

This game seems way more cheesy compared to BF3. Some of the changes weren't really necessary.

Battlefield 3 felt like I was playing through dirty glasses the whole time. Couldn't finish SP.

If the beta was any indication, the brightness has been toned down. I'm not sure what you mean by dirty screen, but they got rid of that default blue tint from BF3 as well.

Like if a frag went off the screen would get all dirty as if you were wearing an astronaut helmet the whole time.

Oh. I didn't notice that in particular. :dunno:

Blood spatter on your screen when you get hurt is still there, and suppression (the blurred vision effect when you get shot at) is very toned down.

EDIT: I just tested the explosion stuff. You get suppressed and get some blood on your screen, but nothing else.

Reminds me that:

1) Ever since there was a more noticeable up-swell of a need for female characters that weren't tits/ass/bikini armor, games like COD and BF4 are going to remind you that, "HEY GUIEZ, WE GOT GURLS IN OUR GEAM TO!!!11".


2) There's going to be a LOT of "We can't leave (INSERT INTEGRAL STORY CHARACTER HERE) behind!" moments in this game.

It's understandable that maybe the NPC programming might have a tough time getting around all the burning debris but how hard is it to get to Checkpoint Charlie in the middle of a cutscene?



3) I need to pump the brakes before I jump in to buy the game for PS3 this upcoming weekend because it's going to look like utter shit and NOBODY's saying anything about current gen.

...I REALLY want to see how the SP story goes though. :shifty:
