I think when he said NL west he meant it is one of the most competitive divisions. It doesnt have the best talent but it has been a competitive division in the past.

Sorry but having a bunch of shitty teams hovering around the 80-85 win mark doesn't scream "best division".

You don't get bonus points for being in a "competitive" division when you and the teams you are competing against are bad.

FT you are way off point, NL Central is far from being one of the best divisions in baseball. During just about each of those years it was a one way race the entire season. Nobody gives a shit if one team makes it one year, then the others make it each following year.

I never claimed it was the best. I just found it laughable that you had the NL West ranked above it when year after year it's ranked as one of the weakest.

LOL at it being a "one way race" when in 3 of the 5 years two teams from the division made the playoffs. In two of those three years both those teams ended up in the championship series and one of them obviously was in the World Series. In one of the seasons that only one team made the playoffs the 2006 Cardinals won the division by a game and half over the Astros and 3.5 games over the Reds. Then they went on to win the World Series. You have no idea what you are talking about.

To back up FirstTimer, the NL central is usually really competitive up until the last month or so. Last year the Cubs had 1st place in a stranglehold for the better part of the year, but most of the time there are 2 to 3 teams fighting back and forth.

Id go with the AL East though to answer the topic. Rays and Red Sox are damn good with the Yankees and Jays in that next tier, and the Orioles closely behind.

It took me 5 hours to respond because I left work (where I spend 99% of my time on VSN), went home, worked out, had dinner, watched TV while my fiancee used the computer to look up info on grad school then logged on after she got off the computer before I went to bed.

Acutally it is. I work distribution support for an international company. 99% of my contacts are over the phone or via email so I have a lot of time at a desk each day. VSN isn't blocked..yet...so I spend my down time and time between quotes, meetings, etc, here.

Thread is called "Best division in MLB", not "Toughest to win". And it doesn't matter either way, the AL East is the best and the toughest to win.

If you put the Yankees, Red Sox, or Rays in any other division, it wouldn't be tougher for them to win. Other divisions just have similar-skilled teams. If a powerhouse team from the AL East entered those divisions, it wouldn't be tougher for them to win.

Yes. Then again it's not like they have sucked ass in the decade. They went to the WS in 2001 and 2003 and were in the ALCS in 2004 and hadn't missed the playoffs until last season. They've still been relevant.
