It really is though. Not on the field of course since both teams are usually bad, but the two teams legitimately hate each other and the fans travel in huge numbers to each city.

If you don't realize that then you just aren't aware of the history these two franchises have. They've been in the same division since the 60s, they've had parallel histories, and it's easily one of the biggest in terms of fans traveling. Also probably the two most predominately black fan bases in the NFL. Which makes it a unique but definitely viable rivalry.

So many bus trips, parties, etc. every year from both fan bases for those games. It's actually known as a fairly big rivalry, easily the biggest one in the region but if you are a Giants fan you probably think the world revolves around the NFC East, so I wouldn't expect you to know that.

Don't speak on something you know nothing about.

... just because teams play eachother a lot doesn't make it a rivalry (ie. Colts/New England). A rivalry should be a long standing feud that despite records, is always an important game for both teams to win simply for bragging rights.

Last year, I would have said Raiders vs Broncos because of the hatred between Shanny and Davis, but I guess I'll go with the Bears/Packers for history's sake.

Its a big rivalry because it is usually for the AFC title, or has big playoff implications. Not to mention, that there was a whole NFL rule change (5 yard rule for CB's) because of this rivalry (thanks to New England being a bunch of lowlife cheaters) It always sparks a hot debate between which team has the best quarterback.

Also, I may be wrong, but I do think that they hold the record for the largest national audience in a regular season game

Oldest rivalry in the history in the NFL... not much else needed really. When they do meet in big games they're obviously just that much more intense. I'm a ways off from 38 but I've been watch for a couple decades and the rivalry has always been intense - these teams just don't like each other and it goes back a long, long time.

I liked Lance Briggs response last Thursday night when he was asked what the first word was that came to his mind when he thought of the Packers .... "suck" ... lol, there's nothing but hate.

bears/packers is the oldest. the steelers/ravesn is technically the steelers/browns since that ravens teamis the old browns anyways. steelers/cowboys is always good, but cowboys/philly is pretty ugly as well.

Anywho, on topic. After last year Steelers/Ravens has been elevated to all new heights. Mufuckas beat us in OT, on a last minute "questionable" touchdown and then beat us by a INT in the AFC Championship. If that isn't a rivalry then the NFL blows.

Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns & all the players to Baltimore in 1996, Which then became the Baltimore Ravens, but Cleveland kept the "Browns" team name.

The Packers and Vikings always have been a good rivalry. There games are usually close and come right down to the wire and with Favre joining the Vikings i think that, that just takes it to another level.

1. The same with all 4 NFC East teams. And 3 of our teams were established before 1935.
