Best Video-Game Console of All Time?

What do you think it is? Not just which one is the best, but rather which one was the best for it's time, which one stood the most above the competition, which one had the biggest leap from one gen to the next?
























For me it's the PS2.

First off I think the console generation of the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube(just cause it has to be) was the best. With the PS2 and Xbox introducing both online play and DVD players.

The PS2 also wasn't big, it was small and easily to carry/travel with. The Controller was similiar to original Playstation's which meant that gamers felt comfortable first using it. Sony used the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" method and in this certain situation it worked.
The Memory Card was also easy to use and could be used on any PS2 console, it didn't have any limits whatsoever as oppose to the Xbox.

But IMO by far it was the games that seperated the PS2 from any other console.

Metal Gear 2: Sons of Liberty
Final Fantasy 10
God of War
Gran Turismo
GTA:San Andreas(Was released exclusively for the PS2 but later for the Xbox)
The other games in the GTA series
The Devil May Cry Series
Metal Gear 3
RE4(Originally on the Gamecube but later ported to the PS2. It wasn't on the Xbox which was Sony's only competition)

Then there were the games like
Kingdom Hearts
Jax and Daxter
Ratched & Clank
that weren't my style but they had huge fan-bases and sold well.

Well those are the reasons I can think of right now that the PS2 was the best. Which one was your favorite?

P.S.-Please don't turn this into one of those threads where nobody post their favorite they just come in and try to argue with the first post.

SNES was huge when it came out.

I remember the hype for the PS2 was pretty massive too but the SNES still stands out imo.

I'm going to go with the Nintendo on this one. Not only my favorite system of all time, but compared to today's bullshit that happens with all this new technology.. there was no way for the Nintendo to break without you doing anything to break it. If the game wasnt able to be read, it was an easy fix. Blow into the game cartage, put it back in and it's going to work. Plus there were so many games for it. I grew up playing Nintendo.

There were no RROD's or disc scratch problems and if there ever was a problem just blow in the cartridge a few times and it's all good. You didn't have to worry about putting the game in a case face up like you have to do with disk. Hell now that I think about it I'd rather play with cartridges on the next-gen that you know would be reliable and won't break. Only thing is that there may be some sort of disk-space problem.

When it works, there is no doubt in my mind that the 360 is the greatest console of all time. I won't try and say it can't be a piece of shit and break alot, but again, when it works, the games and the features are off the charts.

I voted for the original Playstation, but I may be thinking PS2. During my life, I have (owned and) played the following...

Nintendo, Gameboy(s), Genesis, Super Nintendo, Playstation, PS2, Game Gear...

I have played the PS2 the longest (since 2001 to modern day) but I have fond memories of Nintendo and Genesis but that may just be nostalgia.

By far PS2 I mean it still sells today even with much better consoles on the market IMO it won the console wars last time and this time.

I have to go with the 360, although I love the old classic NES and SNES games. As well as some Ps2 games, but I don't get very many memories from Ps2 as I do Nintendos systems.

But by far I have had the most fun with the 360.
