Crabtree's in the same boat.

Crabtree held out for 5 weeks into his rookie season missing all the workouts and pre-season games, and still hit the scene hard. He had Singletary coaching with Alex Smith and Shaun Hill throwing him the ball and still looked consistent and good. Not great, but he's good. If he had a real coach and QB he might have been the best of the class himself.

Hakeem Nicks is the best out of that group. Maclin plays the 2 spot and goes against number 2 CBs. Screw that. Wallace is only a deep threat. Britt is a complete dumbass and is basically a new version of TO/mix in with thug.

Nicks is really the only true possession receiver on that list, the rest seem to be more one dimensional. Not sure about Crabtree, though.

Nicks was 5th in the NFL in yards per game in just his second season. He finished tied for fourth in touchdowns despite missing three games. If he played all 16 games he would've had this season line based on averages:

97 receptions (3rd in NFL)
1294 yards (4th in NFL)
13 touchdowns (2nd in NFL)

Summery: Wallace moves the chains, period. He has fewer catches per game, which is directly related to the 29.9 pass attempts (5th least in league) but converts first downs like nobody else in the league. 8 out of 10 catches go for a 1st down!? Moving chains.

Why are you using percentage of catches for first downs as your barometer?

I like Wallace, but with this logic a guy could catch 4 hail mary passes for first downs, and drop 8 more passes and still be 100% first down conversion rate.

Percentage of targets caught seems to be more appropriate here, where Wallace caught 60% and Nicks caught 61%. About even.
