Biggest Steal of the Draft?

I'm saying Michael Johnson for the Bengals in the 3rd round.

Rey Rey Maulogaghiaghhgaahgala was the steal of the draft in the 2nd round, he should have been a round 1 guy.

Michael Oher was another guy to mention, because he was passed over by teams that needed him, and landed with the Ravens who REALLY needed him. He's going to be great.

If you look at the Jets trading up to steal Freeman from the Broncos who really wanted him, that was funny to me. I love when players get stolen from franchises who really wanted them.

Read an article where Kiper though Jarron Gilbert was a huge steal for the Bears.

I'd be surprised if Gilbert pans out. I go to San Jose State and have seen him play, he looked great at times but I never saw how anything that showed me he is an every down type of NFL DL.

Ray Maualuga-Once again some people saw him as a mid first rounder but slipped to the Bengals in the second round

Not to mention there is a huge difference between strength, power, and endurance. Bench pressing 225 as many times as you can doesn't mean anything in regards to football, especially the OTackle position for several reasons.

1) Nobody you go up against is 225.

2) Positioning, hip & leg strength mean so much more than bench press.

3) You are never laying on your back on the football field. The entire concept of the bench press translating to on the field strength is ridiculous because you are always on two feet on the field.

4) Some guys can bench press 500 pounds for 1 rep but only bench press 225 20 times. Others can bench press only 400 for 1 rep but can throw 225 up 25+ times. There is a huge difference between power, strength, and endurance. It depends on how you train and none of it translates to the otackle position anyway.

5) I could go on forever, but I'm hoping you get the point.

I am angry because I have to spend 10 minutes out of my day explaining why the fucking bench press doesn't translate to functional football strength!!!!!

And why the fuck do you think I'm mad my fucking team just drafted ANOTHER track star instead of a football player.

i think CIN didnt get a steal with maualuga, he cant play in the 4-3, he will be very bad, there is a reason he fell to 38

I am going to say some guys that went in the 4th round like Lawrence Sidbury, how he fell to the 4th i dont know, the guy is an absolute freak and will be a great DE similar to Robert mathis but bigger IMO

Some UDFAS i think are steals are Frantz Joseph to OAK, Chris Baker to DEN, and Mark Parson to DET

I've seen you knocking him here and there and I don't get it. I guess you aren't a fan of his pass coverage, which I understand, but he has so much potential and upside to him that it makes up for his lack of pass coverage.

He has great short-area burst and quickness. He is a downhill MLB that attacks the LOS violently. He is exceptional at taking on guards and fullbacks, making him an elite run stopping MLB. He is also a great blitzer.

I would bet good money that he is going to be a starter in this league for a long long time. He has the tools to be elite, he just needs to fine tune some of his skills (pass coverage, wrapping up/breaking down). I really think that his intensity/aggressiveness and ability to take on blocks is unmatched by any MLB in this years draft.

He is the type of player that can ignite and fire up an entire defense.

I like Maualuga style as he reminds me of Ray lewis with his passion, agressivness and run stopping but ray Lewis also has coverage skills and tackles correctly, if Maualigua can learn how to tackle and defend the pass he will be a great pick but i jsut don think eh can do that, he is too agressive and is better suited to a 3-4 than a 4-3

Because I can't find any clips of his bad plays. I saw the one you posted in your thread about him, he has far more great plays than bad ones, that's for sure. Not to mention highlight videos are comparable from player to player. Why do you think college scouts take a look at them?

The only real difference between us is that you don't believe Maualuga can learn how to become a better player, step his game up in the league and develop into a dominating and complete middle linebacker. I do.

For the record, Ray Lewis was the 5th linebacker taken in the draft in 1996 because NFL teams believed he was too small to play the position, so there were obviously doubts about him but he still managed to have an ok career.
