But they ruined him by making him a giant slug, instead of a normal human body. And the lack of backstory, the audio diaries never really explained why he joined up with Lamb, or how Lamb took that prison from Sinclair.

But Sinclair was great, he was Rapture as it was meant to be, a true Capitalist, only worrying about his own gains, no morality at all.

Sophia Lamb did nothing for me. Way too lame to just be like "We'll make a villain that's the polar opposite of the previous games villain! We are so creative!"

 

Grace Holloway was interesting enough for the prototype "religious black woman" until she completely disappeared off of the face of the Earth after you leave her area.

Sinclair is really the only multi-faceted character of the game.

 

And boy does he get a boner of a death sequence. I'm sorry, just the more I reflect on the game the more shallow and equally hollow it was.

Agree totally about him too. The audio diaries of him had me really interested all the way through. Talk about forgettable, I don't even remember the Irish architect's name, and I just beat this game last Thursday.

Yeah you really don't interact with him much. His audio diaries are interesting. But the radio conversations you have with him don't add much at all, until the end when you kill him. You only interact with him twice when he gets on the train, and when you kill him. It was pretty lame that 2k just had him sit on the train the entire game. A business man like him would have been easily capable of helping out more inf 2k wanted. Also, wtf happened to Sinclair when the priest shot down the train?

I thought Sinclair's death was a good ending for him as far as the story goes, even though I was sad to see him go, it gave him a chance to redeem himself. But it was really underdeveloped and kind of lame. You hear Lamb on the radio saying Sinclair has been spotted, and then "oh shit" there he is as a big daddy. It would have been nice to have Sinclair talk to you throughout the level, or see him being attacked while in the Little Sister sequence, unable to come to his aid.

there is no doubt Bioshock 1 was better. The characters were better and it was the 1st time in Rapture, so all in all consdering the disadvatage they had, they did a good job. Lamb was a little dissappointing when you actually meet ehr but her audio logs were great. Sinclair was surprisingly awesome it sucked you only saw him twice. Then to actually see a pre-ego Andrew Ryan was pterry different but good take.

One thing thats good with a sequel is all the easter eggs it has about the 1st one. I found them entertaining.

All in all thoguh I want to see a prequel back tot eh Civil War of rapture. It would be awesome.

I see what you're saying Buzz, but that's my entire problem. Admittedly they had a tough order with the game (which, as I've said like three times in this thread, shouldn't have even been made), but did they attempt to make something unique by making it a prequel? No. They made BioShock 1.5 with a poorly written/concluded story and a lame premise regarding the Little Sisters. There was a very small chance the game could be in the same galaxy as the first one, and that would be to really try to push the envelope and do the sequel. I guess that's my disappointment.

Although, I've said before, I'm likely being overly harsh because a) BioShock is one of my favorite games and b) I think no variation of a sequel/prequel should have been made in general.

Yeah the priest guy was absolute shit, especially considering they hyped him up along with Lamb. I think he talked twice throughout the entire level. His brother (the atheist pimp) was much better, he had a few good audio diaries, but again never talked directly to you.

I totally agree. My main problem with the game is that it didn't try hard enough to make itself unique, and seemingly when it DID go for some degree of uniqueness, it sort of shot itself in the foot with interesting premises that seemed underdeveloped.

Also, just a random observation, I remember the Bioshock thread back at MM being enormous, everyone was playing the game and talking about the plot twists, scary moments etc. The Bioshock 2 thread has been very uneventful, and I think that speaks directly towards the quality (or lack there of) of the game.

Thoughts on the ending:

 

Elenore becoming a big sister? Lame. I thought Elenore was a good character as the child in the audio diaries was a good character, very cute. But the anime character she turned out to be sucked.

I also thought the different endings kind of sucked. The way they talked about more moral choices, I thought we'd get more endings that had more differences. They were all basically the same. You escape to the surface, and die. The only difference is whether or not Big sister Elenore becomes good or evil. Once again Elenore as a big sister was boring, so I thought the endings were lame. I would have liked to see more differences depending on your moral choices and more choices to, not just whether to kill or not, but sub missions built in that you can complete different ways would have been nice to, instead of Stanley's lame ass get rid of the little sisters level. Anyways I'm rambling, but it would have been nice to see the story change a little depending on your moral choices. For example maybe if you kill everyone, Sinclair turns truly evil and embraces the power that comes with the Big daddy suite. Or maybe he doesn't become a Big Daddy at all in another sequence.

I thought the guy who did the voice acting for Sinclair did an excellent job. And I agree he was the only character I was interested in.

I liked Gil Alexander a lot too...

 

but that ended up being a bit of a let down. I was hoping to have a battle with a giant worm/over spliced splicer, but NOPE!

I can't say for sure, but I know that I beat it in like 8 or 9 hours I think. I can't remember how much there is left between where you are and the absolute end though.

i think overall it was a good game. the improvements they made, especially duel wielding, were very much needed. the main gripe people have is that basically its just more of the same as the first, while not a bad thing if you liked the first, you will probably notice being true. the whole creepiness aura doesn't have the same effect since you've seen it before. could of been better but if you enjoyed the first, you will most likely enjoy the second as well. are you up to the amusement park part yet? that was one of my favorite segments of the game.

While it's not as good as the 1st. Still a great game and brigns a whole new perspective of Rapture. The first was how capitalism can go wrong, while the 2nd flipped the switch with Lamb and turned the topic to socialism. Its kinda brilliant.

Make sure your an OCD achievement addict and collect all the logs and listen to them. Its amazing listening to Andrew Ryan before his ego got the best of him. He is such a fascinating character and that's where Bioshock 2 was a letdown. Lamb is good in her own way, but there will only be 1 Andrew Ryan.
