Braylon Edwards is whats wrong with athletes

It's my understanding that the Jets offered them the best deal out of everyone, so holding on to edwards seems to have payed off.

Im pretty shocked so many people are making excuses for Braylon or dont really seem to think this guy is a douche for fucking the Cleveland Browns the way he did. Again.. im all for believing that some people need a change of scenery, but to not believe this guy was flat out dogging it in Cleveland is pretty dumb and if you were a Browns fan im sure it would bother you much more. Unfortunately everyone thinks the Browns are a joke so Braylon is getting some passes, hahah. I wont argue that the Browns are a joke, but I still dont think it gave Braylon the right to not even try.. it was painfully obvious to me that this was the case after watching how much effort he was putting forth last night. Dude had a spark again.. I just dont see how its fair to do the Cleveland Browns franchise dirty by not even trying. You get paid 10's of millions and you cant even try? Thief status people..

Who cares if he was dogging it in Cleveland? He didn't want ot be there and told people he didn't want to be there. Just ask the raiders who played hard the 1st 2 games, but when it was apparent that All the teams effort wass just going to wasted as JR sucks they have given up..

I have no problem not giving a 100% when you know that it wouldn't make a difference anyway. Lets not forget DA completed 2 passes playing the whole game last week.

Oh and the Dolphins offered Ronnie Brown before the draft which whould be better than what they got from the Jets...

Edwards needs to grow up. When your one of the stars/faces of the team you need to accept the responsibility that you are being looked upon to be a leader, not to dog things when you aren't winning. The only way you create a winning atmosphere and improve as a team is if you go balls to the wall, not wait to be traded and flop on the franchise.

Edwards does not control whether or not he goes 100%, it's his job to play as hard as possible because he is being paid to do that.

Braylon had a game this season where he had more personal fouls than catches. plus he was dropping balls and running around Cleveland acting like a jackass (started coming to light with the whole LeBron incident). He was obviously not going 100% in Cleveland and Jets fans better hope Ryan can keep himin line.

Cleveland was not going in the right direction, Edwards wanted out and Mangini gave him what he wanted for something he considered equal-ish value. Do i condone dogging? No, but these guys are human and for the most part, young.

Edwards needed a new change of scenery to get his head back together, he obviously wasnt trying in Cleveland since they are doing poorly on offense. Of course your going to suffer when your qb changes from DA and Quinn back and forth.

Edwards does not control whether or not he goes 100%, it's his job to play as hard as possible because he is being paid to do that.

He has a right to decide wether he wants to be on a team or not. He didnt want to be on a Browns team that was getting worse, partially since it was going to start looking bad on him. The QB position sucks, Jamal Lewis is getting older, Kellen Winslow was traded...all these things would make his numbers drop.

How anyone can feel its ok not to put forth effort.. ESPECIALLY when a whole city is relying on you is pretty foolish IMO. You can compare real life schmoes to athletes all you want but it simply isnt the same thing IMO. For 16 weeks a year, 1 day a week, Braylon is paid to perform. You cannot perform without effort. You do not make a payscale of 5.5 million without performance. Dogging it week after week is not tolerated in real life and it shouldnt be tolerated in the NFL, either.

Benson
Edwards
Winslow
Moss (everyone knew this one)
Antonio Bryant

It's funny how a change of scenery can be all the difference in the world for these guys. The system really matters as well, obviously.

Well i can respect that, but i once had a teaching gig that i hated and i dreaded going to the class every thursday and tuesday yet i still wanted to be a teacher, so what i did was coast through those 4 months, quit after the year was done, and found a new school to help assist.

I can understand Braylon, at least he didnt stop playing. He was still their number one guy even after he was playing, at what, 60% of his skill level? The Browns didnt do shit to help him out, i dont understand why he has to be the only party trying to make things work.

Some players have a team first mentality, some have a player first mentality. Neither is wrong imo as the player has to have the backing from their employers in order to succed. Cleveland did not put Braylon in a position to succed, and i truely dont understand why he has to be the only person in this "deal" to try and make things work.

I think he did try to make it work, he didn't out right stop playing and demand a trade and refuse to play till he got traded.

How is he going to play for himself when the organization is in shambles? He doesnt know who his starting qb is, his runningback is on his last legs, no 2nd wr to get pressure off, AND they trade his friend Kellen Winslow for picks.

i dont like the fact that he's dissapointing the fans, yet i have to see things from his viewpoint, Braylon Edwards > the Fans. The only person you can be angry at is the head coach for not keeping the players in line. Romeo/Mangini allow their players to bitch and moan till they get traded, most good coaches wouldnt trade their star players away just because their acting like a bitch. See Anquan Boldin. He wanted to be traded, coach said no, end of story.

(Not that great of an example, Boldin still gave 100% effort but it's the closest WR type problem)
