Woy
RIP West

Miracle
"Hello?"
"Yes, is this Ethan Woy?"
"Yeah...you're speaking to him."
"We've got some news for you about the shooting case."
I paused for a second, cleared my throat and braced for the worst. I could feel a tear slowly falling down my cheek and saw a worried expression on Melyssa's face. Things were definitely not looking good.
"Okay..."
"Well out of the 10 wounded, there was only one that survived..."
Geez, could you make me feel any worse? Just break the bad news to me already.
"Yeah, and?"
"We are fortunate to tell you that Evan is the survivor and will make a full recovery."
Oh, thank the Lord. What a huge relief. With everything going wrong in my life lately, it was nice to have a miracle work in my favor. The tears turned from ones of sadness to ones of joy. Melyssa thought that I got the bad news and came over to comfort me, but I put a smile on to reveal the news was good.
"Oh my...wow. I can't believe it. Thank you so much."
"You should be thanking yourself. The reason why he's still alive is because you got him here before everyone else. We're going to keep him here for a little while longer, but he should be home for Christmas."
"God, I'm so happy now. It's a miracle."
"Yes, yes it is. Well I'll let you go, you're probably really tired after this hectic night. Just wanted to give you the good news."
"Once again, thank you so much. Thank everyone in that ER right now. If I can do anything to pay them back, just let me know."
"Haha, will do. Good night."
I hung up the phone and looked right at Melyssa. I've never felt this happy and relieved until this moment. All the past mistakes and faults in my life were gone. I didn't care about the high school suspension. I didn't care about CP's threats. I didn't care about my beef with Greg. I didn't care about dropping the game winning pass against West Virginia. I didn't care about almost committing suicide. All that I cared about was that Evan would be alright and my family would be too. Melyssa and my future child would have their father around, without the threat of him leaving. Everything was going to be alright.
"Everything's going to be alright?"
Staring right into her gorgeous, deep green eyes, I gave her an extended kiss. When I let go, we both smiled and I said...
"Yes Melyssa, everything's going to be alright."
