Sitting on the Sidelines
Exactly, you can't just mindlessly enforce 'rules', even if they may seem black and white. There is room for interpretation, and this ref (and anyone who defends taking FUN out of GAMES) is really off-base. It's ridiculous. AND it's a kid. AND they took away the touchdown (which is just double fucked). This kid could legitimately develop a drinking problem TONIGHT and never stop until his liver explodes at 29. There comes a point when games must be games. This kid's life is in danger. Do not murder this child. That ref attempted murder on camera. He must be hanged!
You want fun, then go play football with your buddies. You sound like the pencil necked geek who never played football on a team. When we played on Sunday, we didn't go have fun, we went to win. You had fun in practice, not when your playing the game.
And how does having the kid developing a drinking problem the refs fault? He made the right call.
The rule of not celebrating was put into after a season was over. It wasn't a mid season call. It's also not the referees place to decide if a call should or shouldn't be made. The board decides whats allowed and what's not allowed. If he doesn't make that call, and some mom on the other team on the other side starts to bitch for missing a call, he could be out of a job. That's right, don't ever leave room for interpretation, we wouldn't want to be able to change the rules, even though we changed them FROM allowing celebrations TO not allowing them. Why can it not work the other way around? It's the same concept of refusing to question the legitimacy of laws solely because they're laws - you lose freedom when you increase the amount of rules and are not allowed to question them.
Taking out celebrations isn't a big deal. I played football for 6 years and the teams I played on never had an issue with it.You should really remember that this is a game, and it's for entertainment/self-fulfillment purposes for both audience and participants alike. Taking out celebrations - ESPECIALLY for high school kids - is like saying, "While you are on the field, you must dominate your own human instincts to the point of removing any sort of emotional, knee-jerk reaction to any situation, regardless of the excitement level of said situation."
We do have rules against anger. You can't yell at other refs or players. If a ref heres you cussing towards him or the opposing team, that's a flag. Ever see a player throw his helmet on the field? That's a flag. You wouldn't see any rules banning the showing of disappointment or anger, would you? Why the FUCK would you have one banning any show of JOY or HAPPINESS?? It makes no sense, and those who disagree are insanely confused.
Hell, my team got flagged once or twice for having players stand too near to the feild from our side of the field.
I think you're confused what "logic" is.
edit:
Do you even watch football?
