Mullen would terrify me between the hedges. I think Murray would tear the league up in that offense. He's already damn good he just has terrible support from teammates and coaches.

Notre Dame might give them a run for their money on that one...

Depending on where you're getting your star ratings from, the only 5-star bust since the class of '07 is Dayne Crist (out of the five per Rivals, not including the two true frosh on the roster). It's all of the 4-star guys who haven't panned out that really bring ND's development abilities down.

Our defense looked very good in the first quarter but injuries killed our depth. Our line was killing theirs and our blitzes were affecting Moore (interception on a corner blitz). We had walkons playing, Boise being the geniuses they are, noticed the inexperience playing, went to a no huddle offense, where they would come out in a different formation, then audible to a different formation and hike it immediately after it was set, we kept blowing assignments and got out of position so Grantham decided to stop blitzing and play base zones and Moore just raped us the rest of the night.

Still, I really like what I say from the defense, just was a bad matchup where Boise can take advantage of any weakness you have. And we had lots against a no huddle.

Offensively we were downright bad. Bobo was Bobo. We ran retarded plays over and over again the whole game. We had no identity, we couldn't decide if we wanted to be a spread team or line up in the I. Crowell looked good, not great, but very solid. Unfortunately our line was terrible and once we lost Gates to a knee injury our depth was blown there. Their defensive line is very good and kept getting pressure on Murray, so Crowell couldn't play much cause his blocking is terrible.

Murray had a bad game but it was more because of terrible blocking, bad play calls, and good defense. We rarely had anyone open. Our receivers couldn't get open at all. Mitchell was a bright spot though at the end of the game.

Not sure what else people want Boise to do. They go out and play these teams, usually on the road or a fake "neutral" site that is really a road game, and always win. And what do people do? They rip them for dropping the yearly Idaho game. Can't have it both ways.

They do well in their bowls against the best teams.

They made a move to get in a better league, then all of the good teams left that league.

And still, a segment of fans always want to disregard them, even if they go on and finish unbeaten.

How anyone can defend this system is beyond my understanding. No matter what Boise does, the C word will find a way to downgrade them and "yeah, but..." them. It's pointless. Just stop the lies and let;s have a 40 school D1, and drop everyone else who willl never be allowed to be part of this anyway down to a new level.

Why shouldn't they? They beat everyone they're supposed to beat.. they go on the road against "big level competition".. they played against VA Tech at Fed Ex field and Georgia in the Georgia Dome.. which are about as neutral a field to play on as playing Ohio State in Cleveland Browns stadium would be.

If Boise runs the table.. you bet your ass they should be in the discussion. Their body of work isn't some "flash in the pan".. they've done this for several years now.

They haven't really been facing the best teams in their bowl games, outside of 2006 v OU and 2009 v TCU (They won both of those though).

Look, Boise doesn't have much control over this, but playing one BCS school and then running through the WAC or the MW does not make a team deserving of a berth in the NCG.

For instance, last year there were people clamoring for Boise State to be in the NCG up until their loss, which was ridiculous because their SOS was 81st compared to Oregon (10th) and Auburn (13th).

In 2009, Boise State went undefeated, but had a SOS of 96th compared to Texas (38th), and Alabama (2nd).

The system is unfair. Yes, we get that. I would love a playoff system so that we could simply settle it on the field, but let's be realistic, thats not happening anytime soon regardless of whether or not Boise plays for a title, because University Presidents are lost back in the 1960s and aren't gonna relinquish their control anytime soon. The best we can hope for is a +1 model in a couple of years when the current BCS contract expires.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be in discussion. I'm just saying compared to other teams in the NC discussion they haven't had anywhere near as strong of a case in the past and it doesn't look like that's going to change this year.

I'm curious though, if Georgia goes 6-6 or 7-5 this year, will you guys still be trumping this as such a big win for Boise? If Georgia surprises and has a good year this year, I'll give credit where credit is due, just like they deserved it when they beat VT last year.

Yes and no.

They have now handled Oregon, VT, and Georgia three years in a row in these Week 1, national spotlight games. If Georgia has a down year, it takes some of the luster off, but it still shows me something.

I give a ton of credit to VT, Georgia, and especially Oregon (for playing @ Boise) for taking a game that most schools are either too scared or too conservative to take.

Truf. Maryland had outgained Miami 220-50 at one point near the end of the first half. Should have been much more decisive of a victory.

But then again, Gary Crowton is their offensive coordinator.
