Joe Thomas - LT - Cleveland Browns

Browns fans have to thank God for Thomas... he along with Jerome Harrison provide any kind of promise or future for the piss poor Cleveland offense. The good news is having a young LT you can count on is one of the vital initial steps to bringing a shitty franchise out of limbo, and Thomas has already established himself as one of the NFL’s marquis Left Tackles. His blocking has been sound on both fronts since he entered the league, but this past season he took it to another level and had the best season of any LT in the league (Unless you’re counting Sebastian Vollmer who had limited time). With another year of 2009 caliber he’ll have to be considered the best in the business, but at this point I still put Clady over him since I believe he’s more versatile in the sense that he could be a monster in multiple offenses and schemes.

I know it's hard to judge between different positions when ranking but I find Aso being ahead of Rivers a little bit puzzling.

One is a good corner... the other is a franchise QB and possible MVP contender for the next decade

London Fletcher - MLB - Washington

Near the top of both the tackle rankings, and the "Most underrated player" rankings year in and year out, Fletcher is one of the most steady and consistent producers the NFL has to offer with great instincts, toughness, and technique. Tackling is what he's known for, but he's also one of the best pass defenders at the LB position in the NFL. His anticipation allows him to read routes quickly and make a jump on the ball even though he may not be the fastest guy on the field. Fletcher is a great guy to have on defense, a true field general who is fundamentally proficient in all aspects of the game.

You guys aren't looking at the list right. This isn't "Who is more valuable?" or "Who would you rather have on your team?" or "Who would you want to start a franchise with?" because oftentimes the QB would take it with ease. This is ranking the top 25 players in the NFL strictly on how good of players they are, in other words, who plays their position the best... And while it's admittedly extremely hard to judge, I think Nnamdi is better at his.

I question a 34-year old LBer who has played for 3 teams and has made the pro bowl zero times in his lengthy career being named the 20th best player in the NFL.

If London Fletcher is the 20th best player in the league, then the top 5 to 10 players must all be LBs.

Actually, your post was very helpful. It mentioned the fact that people may be posting in this thread to disagree with bcransom's rankings. bcransom had seemed unaware of this potential occurrence up to that point, hence his "What the fuck are you babbling about?" comment.

I question the posts of someone who puts any stock at all in the Pro Bowl selections.

SethMode: Let's hear it, by all means. Fletcher is easily one of the most complete LB's in the league, and when you take into account the intangibles, I have no trouble standing by where I put him. Are there LB's over him? Yes.
