Just saw an amateur video of the wreck. A tire lands next to the guy taking the video. Couldn't see anything about severity of injury of the guy who got hit by the tire.

EDIT: Apparently cut his leg and was burned badly according to the twitter account of the person who shot the video. Also nascar blocked the amateur video.

Also holy crap I don't think that official camera guy filming the race can be okay. The video showed him at the start shooting the race and when it eventually went back to the whole in the wall after the wreck him and the camera were gone. Hoping he got out of the way.

It sounds like two people are in critical but stable condition, with one of those people being a minor. Hoping that both of them can make it out alive.

I just really hope no ignorant people get on a soap box and talk about banning NASCAR because it's unsafe. It's unfortunate but Larson's car hit at the only weak point on the catch fence, where the cross-over gate is located. You can find multiple crash videos of cars being torn to shreds because they hit the gate. There's not much they can do besides get rid of the cross-overs.

For my first 500 from start to finish, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait till Phoenix next week.

Can someone explain to me why more drivers didn't move down to the inside late in the race? I would think that the inside is naturally a more advantageous place to be ...but, it seemed the top 5 were content to ride high until Junior and Mark Martin moved down to try and make something happen.

Also, bad day for Toyota. Those teams that run Toyota's and get their engines from TRD...what is a time table for a possible explanation for why the engines kept blowing out?

So pissed when everyone rode around to the white flag with the difficulty passing.

Seemed like Jimmie was the only guy up there that was racing to win at the end rather than points. Really missed Busch, Harvick, and Stewart out there. Also when Gordon got shuffled back only Jr even tried. That is really weak for the 500.

They were racing chicken in my opinion. For points. All the big guns didn't have a chance at the end so everyone else just rode out the race.

The high line was the better line for the most part of the race, and it really seemed that you needed more than just a couple drivers to move down there and try to compete. I gotta say, I really preferred the 1-2 tandem racing to this.

It might be my hate for Johnson and how he is awful for NASCAR, but I have to believe everyone knew that from the Unlimited and the duels. Just no one wanted to risk their car or points which is shocking for the 500.

That makes sense. They seemed to be focused on not losing position and I know Darrell Waltrip mentioned that if they made a move too early that they may lose too much position. Being new to the sport, I enjoyed the race and I don't think it really hurt my opinion of the sport. I do look forward to the short track races though. I think those will be battles due to the "close quarters" nature of the tracks.
