I somehow missed this thread. That trailer made this shit look epic.

A 1,000 VSN Funbux says they ripped off the "Government Experiment Gone Awry" plot and just stuck it on an island.

Dead Rising on a Beach doesn't sound too bad and any company that has the balls to put a kid (albeit zombiefied) through a window gets a pass from me.

I just hope they know that this won't sell.

All in the marketing. Dupe some people into buying it with the right airtime and that trailer. Not sure if it would be allowed to air and how much it would cost to run the trailer in its entirety to get people talking but if they put a few dollars behind it they could make some money from the trailer alone.

That's a 12-minute gameplay walkthrough. This game just looks and moves so awkwardly.

Also, that HUD is fugly.

4-player co-op in the campaign is cool. At this point, the best comparison seems to be Borderlands.

I wasn't very interested in this game before, but after watching that, I'm almost certain that I'll pass on this.

I like that the idea behind it seems like a heavily modified Borderlands, but there are a lot of things that went into Borderlands to make it special for me and many others that I doubt this is going to have.

Still, I'm not turned off by it from the trailer...it looks okay to me.

Left 4 Dead is too obvious of a comparison. Did you not see the RPG system in place? It's Borderlands-with-Zombies to a T.

Borderlands was all guns, all the time. You were always shooting and looting. Open/free roaming world, questing, 4 player co-op, okay. Other than that, I don't see it.

The only difference is a focus on melee weapons. It has the exact same framework and gameplay design.

I bought both L4D and Borderlands, this is is going to be day 1 for me.

Voice acting looks terrible, especially after LA Noire but the game itself isnt awful looking. That said I wouldnt buy this until it his the bargain bin. I dont even finish the great games I purchase, not going to waste money on a marginal one.

I think that about sums up what we know about Dead Island so far.

Honestly, I don't see how this really compares to L4D aside from being a zombie FPS. L4D is much more linear and focused on competitive multiplayer compared to what Dead Island appears to offer.

Played this level with some friends, if this is the one where you had to drop the gas cans to the bottom to fill up the car, that shit was HARD. we managed to beat it though

I actually pre-ordered this when I picked up Madden at midnight. Who knows when I will get time to play it. I at least need to finish Deus Ex.
