How haven't I given it a chance? I played it last night. I didn't play the mp because I honestly don't care much about that. I played through the mission where you have to take down the 'wizard' which was ultra lame. The narrator was irritating at best. Bastion narrator he was not.
It just seemed so basic. Nothing stood out about it at all. If this was Spider Games developing this, people would just be saying it was a FPS Bound By Blood. Is it terrible? Of course not. But there wasn't a single thing in there that really impressed me.
And please don't try to say I went into this hating on it. Go back a few pages and see my response to Stevsta. But now after playing it, it looks like he was correct in his observations.

I'm gonna disagree with a bit of your assessment. Lets break it down

I'm pretty disappointed after playing that tid bit. Most of you will say "It's just an Alpha!" Give me a break. It's a fucking demo. The game releases in LESS THAN THREE MONTHS. Alpha my ass. The game is so Halo it's pretty embarrassing. Try to step out of your comfort zone Bungie. Christ. Everything from the jump, the reload animations, the gun recoil to the Guilty Spark wannabe. Speaking of which, I hope that isn't the final game voice. So terrible. The story hooks and mission parameters are so cheesy too. "The hive hasn't been seen on this planet in hundreds of years. The wizard must've brought them here. I thought we banished them to the moon?" What. The. Fuck?
Maybe the final game will be loads better. I hope so because I have high hopes for this game.

This game is more Borderlands than Halo truthfully; AND YOU'RE HATING ON PETER DINKLAGE. The fuck bruh. You have to understand you're playing the smallest sliver of the game. Are you expecting to be doing those beacon missions the entire time? You're on one portion of one of many planets. Strikes is where the good stuff is.

I also wonder if the people that seem to be so in love with it would feel the same way if Bungie's name wasn't on the main title screen? If ABC Developer made this no one would give a shit. It would just be a mediocre new gen offering.
Like I said already, please don't fall for the Alpha shit. They're just giving you a small slice of a game that is damn near close to being done. By the time the 'Beta' releases in a month from now they'll almost be at the point of pressing the discs.

This is interesting because I understand from speaking with you before playing that you weren't exactly hating, but you definitely said it was very Halo before touching the controller. So you pretty much prepared your bitch fest preemptively. You know I really give no shits about who a Developer is(Unless its Naughty Dog). You played a low level mission and have summed up what you believe is the entire experience. Like I said Strikes is where the good stuff is. Judging the story by being jumped into and early section of the game with no prior backstory is very ignorant. Seriously. I purposely didn't even pay attention to what was going on in the story because I know nothing of what happened prior. Its like jumping straight to the 4th chapter of a book and expecting things to make sense. The story could end up being lame, but you can't make a judgement from this.

I mean gunplay alone you shoot down the sights. Something that is never done in Halo unless its a sniper. Your guns even level up with use. The game is gonna be DEEP.

Of what I played, I enjoyed it. Borderlands meets Halo meets an MMO. Tons of places to explore. I'd like to see what else is in store, but from what I've played, I'm in (and so is Handle).
