I dont see how you can take it from Manning at this point.
This is simply a poorly disguised Favre love thread. IMO, Favre has pretty much played himself out of any real shot at the MVP over the past month. Not a great month statistically for him and his team is in a downward spiral.
Favre
338/500 (67.6%)
3,886 yards
29 TD
7 INT
7.77 Y/A
259 YPG
104.3 rating
34 sacks
At this point if you are seriously going to consider Favre, you have to consider Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers
329/515 (63.9%)
4,199 yards
29 TD
7 INT
8.15 Y/A
280 YPG
102.4 rating
50 sacks
Almost identical stats with Rodgers having 300 more yards. Packers are peaking at the right time instead of slumping. Rodgers also means more to his team. The Vikings have proven without Favre they are still a playoff team last year. He's got one of the best RBs in the league helping him out. Without Rodgers, the Packers are fucked. Yet Rodgers is never mentioned. Obviously I am biased but I find Rodgers more deserving at this point.
I'd also give it to Rivers over Favre
Rivers
308/471 (65.4%)
4,155 yards
27 TD
9 INT
8.82 Y/A
277 YPG
104.5 rating
25 sacks
Again, very comparable numbers. Rivers is leading the team with the longest winning streak in the NFL at the moment. He's got talent around him but if he went down the Chargers would be screwed. LDT can no longer carry that team.
I don't want to discredit Favre here at all. The guy is amazing and has had a phenomenal year. Crazy how good he still is at his age. Until about a month ago, I thought he was definitely one of the leaders for MVP. But now, IMO, its really hard to even put him in the conversation.
This is all a moot point. Manning has and deserves to have this award locked up. And if he doesn't, the only other realistic candidates are CJ and Brees.
