Dirty Mexican that coached at WVU hired at Arizona for some reason

It's amazing to think what a hot commodity this guy was 4 years ago, now going to coach a historically bad to mediocre football program after getting run out of Michigan. Remember how big of a deal his coaching clinics at WVU were?

As long as he doesn't force a 3-3-5 defense like he did at Michigan, he should be fine. He didn't have the personnel or the experienced coordinators for it in Ann Arbor, but he wanted to force the whole square peg-round hole issue.

Yeah it is bizarre. He went from turning down Alabama to taking a gig at a place that has had two double-digit wins since 1899.

He will bring the 3-3-5 defense. Only have 4-5 people that can run a 3-3-5 defense and he will bring in some coach that has no idea what he is doing to run it.

if casteel's D continues to have issues this year, Holgz will push Ollie to get rid of him... RRod can have him for all I care, b/c having casteel would make Zona a dangerous team... I'm more interested to see if he raids the Pitt coaching staff to get Calvin Magee and some of the other guys he had at WVU or UM...

At least the thread title doesn't say that he coached at Michigan. He, um... really didn't do much of that. I will say that Denard Robinson is probably more suited to his offense than Hoke's. However, there's no way in hell Toussaint would be having the year that he's having under RichRod, so the offense would be completely one dimensional.

I think this could be a better fit for Rich Rod. Lower expectations, more time to implement his offensive system, replacing a complete asstard instead of a successful coach, and Tuscon is more of an out-of-the-way place for Rich Rod to coach than at Ann Arbor.

I heard that when Rich Rod brought all his assistants to Michigan from WVU, they didn't fit in with the button-up, prep environment of Ann Arbor. Rodriguez's assistants were a bunch of hillbillies who chewed tobacco and wore jeans all the time. They were despised by everyone on campus.

RichRod can easily integrate his offense within a year if he can get himself an athletic quarterback...which shouldn't be a problem.

Everyone and their mother knew Denard Robinson was a stud...but everyone wanted him as a WR or CB...RichRod told the kid he'd be a QB at Michigan and there you go. There are several SoFla QBs every year that get passed over as a QB by in-state schools that go play ball elsewhere as a QB. Just gotta pick'em out of the crowd.

Have you been to Ann Arbor? They almost eat as much granola as Berkeley. Place is the Berkeley of the midwest. I'm sure they wouldn't care too much about hillbillies wearing jeans. I went to a farm for a rugby after party once in Ann Arbor. It's not as "button up" as you might think.
