'Dreams are coming true': Rookie Sanchez is Jets' starting QB

To Ram29Jackson,

You say that the parity of the leauge is weak, and I'm assuming that you've come to this conclusion after last year and the beginning of this season. If so, why did you predict the Jets to go 0-4? Obviously you didn't think the leauge was that bad when you predicted them to go winless in the first month, and gave them the benefit of 1 win at best in the first 4 games. Did the leauge become weaker for no reason, since FA and the draft already took place and had to account in your prediction of 0-4.

Actually, since the ravens won the SB I think parity has wreaked havoc. The Bears getting there was ugly as well.

Actually, I laughed to myself with that prediction. I thought "yeah, the jets will win 2 , maybe 3 games, purely on defense. But it irks me because i dont think that many Qbs should be doing that well early on. They dont know the playbook, cant make reads / audibles etc. Saying someone is a game manager and thats all you need is pathetic. If you are a game manager, you are behind the starter. the jets are 4-0 and thats great for them. but its only because they drew the right parity stick this year. not because of any superior cohesive talent on their side.

Second and third stringers were the guys you developed for a year or two until they knew the system and were practiced and ready. now those 2nd and 3rd stringers are starting for teams in their first year with them. Therefore the over all quality of play is weaker.

The thing is, these kids nowadays are getting better, they play at a semi-professional level at college such as USC and Sanchez. A majority of VSN believes that the rookies and sophmore Qb's (Ryan, Flacco, Sanchez) are better than the rest because of sheer talent and will, and i agree, i believe we are seeing a new era where the playbooks become simpler and rookies are able to contribute right away. certain players have more talent and thats great . Just because they are doing well doesnt mean they are, as of yet ,comparable to really good players yet. Because of free agency etc. most teams are glorified pick-up teams that are winning on who ever has the better horse at the time and not cohesive ,practiced execution.

IE- are those 3, plus others looking good because of talent or do they look that good because everything around them isnt that professionally strong.

if you have players moving around due to free agency and too many young guys starting you are not getting the best you can get. You are getting the worlds most expensive pick up game.

Am I complaining haha , no. i am a sports fan. I like the feel, shape, color and design, tactics and back and forth of the game of football ! But mathematically, logically and culturally you are not getting the best product you could get at this time.

The bottom line is Sanchez has been said to know the playbook early on and learned it and the only thing stopping him was the execution on the field and in preseason, he proved it.

You watch the games the Jets have played and honestly, I can say that Sanchez has been MORE consistent than the running game.

Coming into this season, I saw Fox thought that the Jets would start 0-5 BECAUSE of the uncertainty at QB and the surrounding cast mostly. They started out with the Texans, who many felt was a darkhorse to become a wildcard team with a potentially great offense and a good front 7. The Patriots, who with Brady, were easily one of the top favorites to make/win the SB this year. The Titans, who very little thought they wouldn't drop off from last year...and hell going into that game last week, the Titans were more of a favorite to win because of Fisher and their "desperate" nature for a win. They have the Saints next, who may have the NFL's most balanaced offensive attack.

I'm sorry ,but no rookie Qb can know the playbook early on. It takes 3 years to trully understand a system and feel good about audibling etc.

With a learning disability. Assuming that NFL QBs don't have learning disabilities, then they should be able to learn a playbook in 1-1 1/2 year.


Average time spent on team for offense in the NFL: 4 years. So that must mean most players know the playbook. I'll bring up the stats if you really want me too...
