Jets looking to part ways with Sanchez and Tebow

There you go. A few plays per game. He's not a QB. Can he play on special teams? He has to do more than just a few plays per game to take up a roster spot. Can he play on special teams? Can he at least backup at FB, H-Back or TE? You have to justify the roster spot. He has to do more than just be a few plays per game QB. If he can do more, you can justify the Roster spot, and he could effectively be the third QB, what most teams usually have as the emergency QB. An emergency QB on the active roster. That would be a luxury.

But he is not an effective, every down QB. I like Tebow. I'd like to see him utilized more. Just not behind center, except for a change of pace, read option, wildcat kind of play.

At times you seem to say he can play QB and at other times you seem to say only in very specialized situations. I'm just not sure if our opinions on Tebow are far off or not.

I've said repeatedly that I don't think he's a long term option as starter. My stance all along is that he's a change of pace/specialty player/backup.

I don't understand this point you keep making that Tebow has to learn other positions to justify a roster spot. First of all, he has learned other positions. Secondly, what other backup QB's learn other positions to justify a roster spot? You say Tebow has to do more to justify having him, but there isn't another backup QB in the league who doesn anything other than wear a backwards hat and stand next to the coach.

Tebow, when utilized properly, is the most useful backup QB in the league, because he can play in specialized situations.

Windows are a lot smaller in the Red Zone. I don't have much faith in Tebow completing a pass. Do respect his running down their.

I'll ask again. Have you ever seen Tebow play? I'm being serious. Not highlights.

At Florida, and in Denver, he was always extremely dangerous in the red zone. It's probably his greatest strength, aside from short yardage. He gets the ball in the end zone with very good efficiency.

Tebow also showed in 2011 he can finish drives. In 70 red zone plays with Tebow at quarterback last season the Broncos scored 20 touchdowns. That was the highest TD percentage (28.6) as any quarterback with as many plays over the past two seasons

Get him in the hands of somoene who can actually run a sophisticated NFL offense and away from that caveman Tony Sporano and he's a weapon... the eye test bears it out and so do the numbers.

And as far as Brady is concerned he's not going to have to worry about Tebow ever taking his job or the fans ever clamoring for it. He's just got another weapon to help the Pats win games. It never has seemed to bother him in the past, I don't see why it would now.

Plus if anyone can sell him on the idea its Belechik and McDaniels.

Tebow creates windows when he draws defenders in as he nears the LOS. Seen it happen plenty of times. LBs and DBs leave coverage assignments much quicker in the RZ because obviously a QB run for 5 is much more damaging there than at midfield.

Im not quite sure I can recall an instance where a potential impact player was benched purely out of spite to a GM.
Im a Rex Ryan fan but holy cow theres simply no words to backup what he did to the QB position this year. Its been a year long pissing match and when neither the coach or GM are doing things in the best interest of the team youre going to have major problems.

The whole situation makes zero sense. Remember during pre-season when Rex said this was his strongest team personnel-wise, and they were going to run shit other teams would have to scheme for? So what the fuck happened?

Most backup QB's either know how to play QB or are learning and have potential. Backup QB's are QB's. They are not specialty players. Tebow is a specialty player. Teams can afford to have very few specialty players that can only contribute in those specialty situations. Kickers, punters, long snappers. Most players other than backup QB's are also playing on special teams. Tebow is not a backup QB. He's a specialty player. I would want him doing more to justify a roster spot.

As far as him lining up at other positions besides QB. I don't see him doing much of that. Not enough to justify a roster spot. My opinion is he needs to bet better at QB or better at other positions before I would want him on my roster. I don't want him as a backup QB. I'd rather have someone that could develop into a real QB if I have a vet starter, or a vet backup if I have a young starter. Plus another project QB on the practice squad. Why would I want to use a QB roster spot on a guy that isn't very good at the QB position and doesn't seem to want to get any better at the position. So far, I've seen him line up as a specialty running QB and a punt protector. I haven't seem him line up much at H-Back, FB or TE. According to Glen, it's not possible for Tebow to learn any of those positions, except I think glens a trollin.

Idk why everyone hates on Tebow. His team made the playoffs, he won a playoff game. Only the scrubbiest of scrub backups can dream of that. Tebow deserves a chance somewhere. If it doesn't work out so be it, but I think he would be in the top of the middle of the road QBs just bc he does a good job protecting the ball and not making awful decisions. I don't think you would win a SB with him but he would def make his team a contender from time to time.

I dont think he'll have a choice... Tebow will get the message loud and clear once he hits the open market this offseason, if this season hasn't been enough of an eye opener for him already, that most if not all of the NFL is out on him as a franchise QB.

And I've gone over the various things you can do with Tebow in the RZ beyond just "charging the LOS" enough times that I don't feel like doing it anymore. Read above if you want to know.

Why do you want him? Maybe because of the stat I posted where his team scored a TD on more than a quarter of his red zone snaps before he got to that terribly run Jets scheme..

Don't know why you keep bringing up 4th down since I haven't mentioned it once, I think he'd be more effective on first and second and goal rather than fourth and short personally.

And like I said about Brady before... if the Tebow thing worked and he bitches about it then that's on him for not being a team guy. If it's not working then the Pats probably wouldn't stick with it anyway so he has nothing to worry about.

Listen.. I'm just presenting a scenario. I don't know where Tebow winds up and I'm certainly not saying he's better than Brady.

Just a scenario that I think would work for Tebow and like I've said countless times the Pats worked out Tebow when Brady was on the roster and even younger so obviously BB saw some way he could use the kid, as did the current Pats OC.
