anyone know anything about the new features this year?
for instance, when i am recruiting there are times where i get the x2 Adviser bonus. is there any reason for this as it appears random.

i see u get a pipeline bonus for obvious reason.

Does anyone know what the time savers option is for?

what do u guys plan on using for recruiting difficulty? i was just doing a little test run on varsity and i always got positive numbers, but nothing where i was dominating the recruits. I even dropped spots on a few guys. But i am thinking AA is a good start but really i have no clue since this is new.

For u OD guys, it does appear that the recruiting points are totally random this year. I did a test and reloaded and tested the same guys again and got different results each time on the same pitches....so thats good news

This is a really good question (recruiting difficulty). Can you change the difficulty after you've started a Dynasty or is it locked in (I really hope it isn't)?

I just played my first game (almost)...but I am starting over because I need to find good sliders...2 games in a row the score was already out of control, it just kept going back and forth and the AI's WRs kept breaking free. But it seems like this is going to be a shit load of fun. I have high hopes for once...although I think I am just going to sim games because I think that is what the sliders I am using are made for because 8 minute quarters are wayyy too long.

I'm using Heisman for my OD for recruiting difficulty. Haven't noticed anything with people going down and stuff despite getting points. Only way you'd go down is if some other team gets more points than you though

u using any house rules for recruiting? Like i am not targeting more than the scholarships i have available which is 25. Plus i am not gonna sign more players than i have leaving. I was thinking of capping the number of 5 star players, but im not sure yet

Let me know if you come up with any house rules. Right now I'm just doing pretty much what you do: I only target the number of players I have leaving. So this year that's 19. I've been tossing around the idea of targeting players from my home state or pipeline state before other players, so long as they are within a one star ranking of that out-of-state player and have me higher ranked. For example, if a four-star recruit has me listed as #4 on his list, and a three-star recruit has me at #3 on his list and is in one of my pipeline states, I must recruit the three-star guy.

Early Thoughts: Started a test dynasty today using Arkansas. I only simmed through week one so far, but the sim stats looked pretty good (which is something Madden fucking struggles with every year for some reason).

I like this new recruiting setup. Instead of just constantly playing to your team's strengths with every recruit, the randomness forces you devise a new strategy. Instead of skipping past a topic that's average and landing on something even worse, maybe it would be better to compare it to your competing schools (downplaying is something I NEVER did in '10). I also really like the new numbers system. Lets you know exactly how much ground you need to make up, and where you really stand with a school. I've already seen instances of me being ranked lower on a prospects list, but actually have fewer points needed to rise to #1. All depends on how close the race is.

The user interface is pretty cool, but it seems a bit slow to me. I dunno, maybe I'll get used to it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the draft classes translate into Madden. Last year they were horrible IMO, and I stuck with the much-improved Madden generated draft classes. Hopefully I can return to NCAA imported classes this year.

I just started an offline dynasty w/ 2 wks of recruiting; have yet to play a game. I think I'm going to start it online, so I can do the recruiting off the console. I haven't gotten a negative but you do get real small positive points (I got 9 pts for 1 topic). Maybe the negative only comes if other schools compare themselves to you? I replaced North Texas with a TB, so I am only a * team. During the season, I am only going to recruit guys from Texas. I'm not sure if I will include pipeline states in further years (most likely will since it's just a phone call). Right now it's not a problem, since all my guys are from TX.

The first week, I only looked at guys who had me in their top 10. I'm thinking by week 3, cutting the list to only those who have me in the top 5 and go from there. Also nobody over 2* during the season, which is fine because higher rated recruits usually don't have me in the top 10. I only have 13 recruits on my board coming into the season. Those are some things I do off the top of my head.

All I know is that I started one with Wisconsin on AA. Recruiting it good but playing the CPU...lord. 6 min quarters...playing with Chew Clock on I am destroying the computer.

couldnt agree more. I love the new recruiting system. It makes more sense and is a fresh way of doing things. I also like using the downplay the other school which i also didnt use last year at all.

House rules I use is always recruit majority to the number of your prestige level. So if it's a 3star school (B-).

So say you recruit 10 total players, I make sure only one of those ten players is a 5 star, 2 four-stars, and the rest 3stars.

Something to that effect, so dont grill me on that alone - it's just a base.

Started a dynasty with Arizona State, on AA. My first game, I beat SMU 17-13.

My pass rush couldn't do shit, I was hitting the QB with a user controlled DE every other play but he always got the ball out.

on Heisman why does it always feel like the CPU knows what play you have called

B/C on Heisman they do....you have to trick them on defense. What usually works if you take a guy that is supposed to blitz and manually control him into coverage or vice versa. Otherwise they can pick you apart with their QB to the point of where you might as well just control a D-Lineman and hope for the best.

I like the recruiting...it does take longer but seems way more fair in terms of a Online Dynasty. People used to pour 3-4 hours into the top recruits. Totally bogus.

I'm playing a Maryland dynasty and am in season 2 of it. I'm really surprised with the sim stats. They're a lot better then I thought they would be, hopefully madden steps their shit up this year.

I'm debating Miami, MTSU, or some team that's in the bottom of a BCS AQ conference.

I usually find it fun to do either one of them. With one of the BCS teams you can really have a lot of good close games between powerhouse schools but, you can also do that with the lesser teams and try to possibly make a BCS bowl and take out a powerhouse.

I typically find it the most challenging to control a bad BCS team, like Baylor or Vanderbilt just for an example.

Playing with Texas or Florida is no fun.

i always play with ohio state because thats my team. But i agree with St Fran that it gets boring playing all those cupcake teams. the big 10 teams blow. At least if u used a top SEC team u get conference competition. i get Penn St, Wisc, and maybe Mich since its a rival game. Plus i get the canes this year
