No, because the 360 is easier to program for plus it was out well before the PS3. So, of course that's going to be maxed out before the PS3. The 360 games are still better and by the time the PS3 catches up we'll be talking about the new xbox.

I already happen to think that the PS3 exclusives have surpassed the 360's. Maybe there is a little catching up to do when it comes to multiplatform games, but the differences aren't too big between the different versions anyway.

as far as EA goes they do take stuff over and turn it to shit just look at warhammer online rushed it to the street and within a month subscriber base fell threw the floor.

It did? I know Sony has said that but I'm damn near 100% sure that has never been said by MS. Hell, the original Xbox lasted four years.

If developers are already maxing out a systems power to put out their games, the console company, in this case microsoft, will have to develop a new console just to compete with ps3 games that have yet to hit the market.

microsoft abandoned the original xbox only 4 years in because of this while the ps2 has had a hell of a long run. and yes, a 10 year life cycle means exactly that. that it should take 10 years for gaming companies to push a console to it's 100% potential and limit. look at games that were on the ps2 when it first dropped compared to once developers were able to harness it's full power.

I'm not saying xbox360 is bad but for numerous developers saying that they are already running out of power to work with is pretty shitty considering it's only been out for 4 years. what that does is force the consumer to fork out more cash to buy a new console. which isn't so bad if your system is backwards compatible...like the ps3 with ps2 games. people who have ps3's will see games continue to improve on their existing console without having to go out and buy another one so soon.

If Sony learned anything from this generation it is that it cannot let a competitor (MS) release a system a year before it does. Allowing the 360 a full year out of the gate was the death nail for the PS3 (despite having a "better" "more powerful" system). Developers worked with it and became comfortable with it.

There's a 1-2 year interval between each of these events. I don't think both Sony and MS released a new system in the same year as the other. And Sony won't need to pump out a new console when MS decides to do so because there will still be room for improvement from developers on the same console.

It's kinda like PC Gaming. Your PC's "gaming life span" is as long as it can run the games on the market that you wish to play. Once your rig can no longer run new games well enough for your liking, then you upgrade. Really the best way I can put it.

i.e. when I built this PC 4 years ago it ran everything on the market incredibly well. But with newer games (COD5, Crysis, etc.) I can see my PC is outdated and it's time for a new one.

That's not true because that wasn't the case with the PS2. The PS2 was maxed out, whereas the xbox wasn't yet many developers, EA included, made games based for the PS2 and ported to the xbox. Many developers have come out and said that they are now just finding ways to use all of the SPUs in the PS3. If that's the case, there is still way more to come. Honestly, graphically, we probably won't see too much better than Uncharted 2. It's the extra processing power that will make the PS3 stand out.

IIRC Peter Moore said the plan was for the 360 to have a 10 year lifespan in Game Informer (not sure which month/year).

At E3 (this year), Microsoft executive Shane Kim said that the 360 has a 10 year lifespan...

eh there's no need in having two systems unless you're really into Metal Gear or SOCOM, or can't pay for net service I guess. Console gaming has really hit a dead spot right now anyway for both consoles. All the new games have been sucking lately, I sold my 360 even, but Ill probably buy another one if Madden turns out to be good... which I highly doubt.. we'll see tho.

And also just talking about Maxing out gameplay look at what God of War II looked like on PS2, that shit was far beyond what expectations were. I was in a forum of PS2 owners who almost converted until they played GoW II and they developed new hope. 360 rushed their development just to get an edge on Sony and it worked but at then again my PS3 doesnt crash...

Wasn't this the argument Sony used for PS2 to PS3 and why it was "o.k." to release a year after the 360? Again you assume the 720 comes out a year or more before PS4.


If it is flipped and PS4 comes out a year or more before 720, many 360 owners will switch to the PS4 just as many PS2 owners switched to the 360.

Americans are obsessed with having the latest and greatest in electronics (particularly gamers). Bottom line, whoever comes out first with a newer/better system for the next generation of consoles will be the winner. If they both come out at approximately the same time, you will have a real "war" and the better console will ultimately win.

Yup. It was genius on MS's part. They rushed out the 360 knowing that it wasn't ready yet just so they could beat Sony to the punch. It was a great move.
