Damn, all I wanted was at least ONE win.
Really can't knock them TOO much after all the shit they've gone through the past week. Of course, you can knock D'Antoni for some shitty end of game management, but the team as a whole was about as clutch as the Howard Eisley Knick teams.
What really hits you in the face with this team is they lack DEPTH in a major major way.
Landry Fields' shitty play down the stretch and in the post-season may be a bit concerning but I'm hoping it's just a rookie wall since he played so much.
They have no legit back-up PG and while Douglas is a good hand of the bench, he's not the type of player who can be a floor general.
I like Bill Walker but he's nothing more than a 7 or 8 kind of guy. He doesn't drive often enough when he's go the ball....on the plus side, he's active on defense.
They LACK SIZE. Jared Jeffries hustles but he clogs the offense. Nothing personal, but I hope he's not on the team next year. Or at the least, a bench a guy. He's a decent defensive guy but against better big men, he wilts.
Injuries are a motherfucker. Amar'e may not play in Game 4 because his back is giving him problems and frankly, I'd hold him out just to play it safe. Billups knee may be fucked up if their is ligament damage. When he plays, he's a damn good PG (and clearly the best one we've had in a long time, fuck Marbury)...but is his questionable health going forward worth the $14 million or whatever the # is next season?
Ronny Turiaf is a good role player but asking him to start is the wrong way to go. Plus, he's playing on one knee apparently.
As far as the series, Boston played like shit in games 1 & 2 and that was the time for the Knicks to take a game or two. Eventually, Boston was going to wake up offensively and they did in game 3. Just imagine if Melo hits the 3 pointer in game 1 and Jeffries scores in game 2 and they win. Just two plays change the entire face of the series.
