We are aware of an ongoing issue with Forza Motorsport 5 players who are not being recognized as VIPs or are missing specific LCE or VIP-related content in their games. We believe this is a platform issue and are working closely with the Xbox team to solve. Once this issue has been resolved, affected players should begin to see LCE and VIP related content in the game, including relevant content outlined in Wednesday's Week in Review post.

If I am reading the following Twitter exchange correctly, what jms said is accurate. You can "rent" those cars for free but to use them online or in a career you still have to spend credits on them-

 
DLC cars, yes. All of the DLC stuff only unlocks those cars for availability. All of the Day One and Limited Edition cars you will not need to pay for using in-game credits and will hopefully be fixed soon.

46 cars is around 20% of the total car population.

You also need CR for upgrades. I play this game to race online mostly. Career mode is just a mindless checklist of stuff to do. The computer is decent at Professional which provides some level of challenge at least. Cockpit view in this game is pretty awesome.

It's Forza, it may not be perfect, but you know you'll like it. It doesn't have the depth of Forza 4, but it's a launch title. Frankly, I think you've wasted $59 on way worse games than Forza 5.
