Nope the NFL never gives out compensatory picks when a player dies. The Redskins didn't get one when Taylor died, nor did the Broncos get one when Darrent Williams died. And both players were much better than Adams.

According to a report first published Sunday morning in The Greenville News, former Clemson defensive end and current Chicago Bear defender Gaines Adams has passed away.

The report said an autopsy will be performed today by a forensic pathologist in Anderson County.

No further details have been released but CUTigers has learned he is believed to have passed away in his sleep from a heart attack.

Adams was selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he was traded to the Chicago Bears last October.

As the No. 4 overall pick that year, he tied former Clemson great Banks McFadden as the highest selection for a Clemson player.

Not very high. Adams was a speed player that got throw around like a ragdoll by most linemen. And by all accounts, he wasn't a weight-room guy. He apparently never did a squat in his life until last year. So for a guy who didn't like working out and had very little strength for his position, I don't know why he'd be hopped up on roids.

That really doesn't mean he didn't take roids. Alex Sanchez (MLB CF about 5 years ago) got busted for roids and he had like 1 career HR and weighed maybe 150 pounds. He was a speed guy too (22 bunt base hits one year).

Not everyone who takes steroids is good at it. He could have started taking them this year, not had a clue what he was doing and this is the result.

Not saying it is, but you can't rule out a guy for taking roids just because he wasn't strong.

Anytime an athlete dies of an enlarged heart, steroids or some other type of performance enhancing drugs are the first thing that pops into your head because of the strain the heart goes through do to the added workload from the drugs.
