[ALL] Games that would make good movies

I think Uncharted would make a good movie but it would be kinda Indiana Jones esque. They would probably have to ditch the spanish people turning into zombies though because people would probably find that unbelievable and ruin the whole movie.

Legend of Zelda is another one but i don't think the casual movie fan who doesn't care about the game would flock to it. They'd probably think it is some LOTR knockoff.

Well first of all, you guys can stop inventing what I said. I said they finally learned how to tell a pretty good story (and again, this was early in -- by the end I was pretty disappointed).

Second, honestly, if anything could work it would be the simplest of bro-style shooting games. At least then they could churn out an entertaining movie that might not be good, but you could sit through and enjoy.

There's a lot of great ones. They'd have to be the slower ones though, everybody wants to make the big action movie but Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Assassins Creed, Metal Gear Solid, BioShock, maybe even God of War and Fallout 3...

Man, we disagree greatly then on what would make a great movie. Shadow of the Colossus and Ico might work if done as a fan project by some film student, but Assassins Creed, BioShock, and God of War 3? Yeesh. Those stories are great for video games, but they would not translate well to a movie at all.

Fallout 3's story is fucking terrible, so I don't know why that was even mentioned.

And super LOL at Metal Gear Solid. Really? That is perhaps the pinnacle of an example of why what can work in a video game wouldn't work on the screen. That shit is silly as all hell when you take it out of context of a video game.

It's not a knock on video games, it's just saying that stuff that is bananas that you excuse in a video game just wouldn't be excused in a movie.

"In this scene, let's have this cyborg invisible ninja who at one time was friends with the hero show up and fight! Then in the scene after that there will be a dude that can read minds and throw chairs and stuff and he'll be all decked out in a gas mask and bondage wear. We can call him Psycho Mantis!!!"

That reads kind of like what a meeting that I imagined happened between the screen writers for movies like X-Men Origins: Wolverine or some shit.

All it really took was budget, a director/writer that gave a shit , and the technology to be ready.2 out of those 3 would be taken care of today. Frankly we wouldnt be having this conversation had Universal not been fucktards. IIRC Peter Jackson was in line to produce and had a little known guy named Blonkamp as the director. They both left after $ negotiations fell through and went and made District 9.

FYI Like it or not Resident Evil is on its kabillionth sequel and for all intents is a successful video game translation. As comic books run dry and reboots already starting its a pretty sweet time period for a huge Video game adaptation trend.

Problem is most games are based on movie genres to begin with. GTA the movie is just every gangster movie ever. Read Dead would just be another western.

Anyways so long as care is taken into the project Halo and Gears of War could be it.
Something over the top ridiculous like Twisted Metal could work.
Lame as it sounds Call of Duty. Every WW3/Nuke war movie is from a sci fi angle or that Tom Clancy guy in a suit nothing ever happens on screen movie. If you could make a WW3 movie from a historical P.O.V like Private Ryan/Black Hawk Down...or in the trench WW3 is about to go full force BattleLosAngeles type of movie it could work.

With a hugeeeee budget I feel Mass Effect could easily be a good movie. I love the lore and the art direction. Hell it couldn't be much worse that Episode 1 with a budget. Kind of a chronicles of riddick feel.

I always loved the story in Final Fantasy Tactics (the original). I feel like it would make a good fantasy-hybrid type of movie as there's lots of betrayl and central chracters throughout. Focus more on Ramza and people like Gafgarion etc of course and less on the normal 'random party' aspect.

I feel a lot of game could easily be adapted, I mean hell, Hitman got a movie that was alright, it didn't rock the cinema world or anything, but it wasn't horrible by any means.

I agree. Mass Effect would have to be made with a crazy budget but I think the gamers alone would flock to it and if it had a decent script so would sci-fi no gamer nerds.

I just think most people hating on it ever getting a movie is that it wouldn't live up to their expectations. WHO GIVES A FUCK?! It'll be a Mass Effect movie.

One that I think could be made well if it had a decent sized budget is an inFamous movie. I'm not sure I'd want it to be the exact same as either of the game stories, but using the same characters absolutely.

Well I do agree with it not being Shepard but possibly an overlapping storyline would be nice. An original character working for the Alliance/Cerberus meeting Shepard in some sort of Cameo apperance. I would really prefer it be done after the Reaper storyline.

Yeah there's sooooo much stuff in the ME universe that you could easily find something to make a movie or trilogy about that wasn't a rehash of the Shepard arc.

If you took the KOTOR universe and created a completely new story, I would pay extra good money. The Sith vs. Jedi stuff is simply epic, and there is just so much they can expand on.
