[ALL] Gamestop/EB Games to stop selling "used" games

Why anyone wouldn't use amazon what with their promotional credits, decent trade-in offers, release day shipping, and fantastic customer service is beyond me.

Becuase who the fuck wants to wait for something to get shipped to them. I'm pretty big on amazon but buying games from them (especially new) can be annoying.

If I want a game I don't care about what promotional credits or other bs comes with the game. I just want the game.

This thread title is deceiving though, kind of like GS is with a lot of their practices. They aren't discontinuing selling USED games, they are just know being more obscure with how they display NEW games, in hope that the average consumer will just grab the USED version so they get all the profit.

This is beyond shady.

From everything I've read this practice has only been observed in Canadian stores at this point though. Fucking Canada.:rolleyes1:

You pre-order and by the time you get home from work it's waiting on your doorstep release day? What do you mean waiting for? Either way you are waiting at gamestop, you pre-order and your dumbass is sitting there all night to get midnight release day or some other dumbass idea.

Sure they might have good specials every once in a while, but if you are just trying to sell them a game, they don't give you crap for it.

Granted, I don't sell my games back. But one of my employees told me he would sell me SR: The Third for $30, because Gamestop wouldn't even give him that for it. I am buying it of course, but that is nuts how much profit they turn on it.

Thats what I'm saying, amazon give you a decent amount for trade-ins, much better than gamestop.

Well I'd personally much rather save $20, not have to leave my house, and just wait for UPS to deliver on its release day.

Might try the Amazon trade ins, but I dont have access to a printer for labels/slips, and dont have packages for items.

For selling used games and dvds, I use Glyde, just got $40 for 2k12. They ship you the envelope and you just put what was bought in it and drop it off. The only problem is that it can take over a week to get the money, they have to ship the envelope to you, then it has to go to the person who bought it, they have like 2 days to try it out then can release the funds, but, like me, if you want it deposited straight to your bank account, thats another 3 business days. However, i've never had major problems with them, just had to contact them once or twice bc funds werent released. Also, the prices are for market prices, and it does go down some times, and you can have listings for months and not get anyone to buy them.

For those who are saying you need it right away, that is all well and good. You realise there are alternatives right? Maybe you don't get a midnight release, but more and more best buys and such are doing those now too.

Combine this with their policy of repackaging games they have taken home to play, and your odds of getting an opened game go up. Why even bOther with the hassle of dealing with a company who treats their customers like morons?

I don't ever wait in line at a gamestop, futureshop, walmart ect ect and I never do midnight releases because I have better shit to do like sleep then get a game.

When I want a game I wake up and goto the store in the morning and pick it up. If I'm busy during the day I just pick it up when I get a chance.

I don't order a game online, and sit around and wait (anywhere from 9am to 6pm! thank UPS!) or goto work and hope and pray that if they leave the game on my doorstep no one will come by and steal it or if they need me to sign for it I have to drive to the nearest UPS store and wait in a long ass line (because everyone picks up their shit after 6pm, trust me I've had to go through this many times) just so I can pick up the game.

My biggest gripe with online retail right now is the fuckin shipping and the bullshit I deal with when it comes to it. I probably take in 4 to 5 online orders a week and I'd probably guess something goes wrong at least 2 to 3 times a month.

I want a game when I want it not when some dude in a brown get up decides its my turn to get something delivered.

I find my business orders will be in usually anywhere from 10 to 2.

Personal orders are literally 9 to 6. It's so odd.

Also all the UPS shipments to here come from a city that is half an hour away so the drivers have to drive at least that half hour every day just to start delivering here. It's really wierd.

Most amazon orders (well when I order from amazon.ca) will come out of toronto which is only 3 hours from here so most overnight stuff is easily obtainable if I place the order before 5pm. If I order amazon.com that shit takes like a week.

This just seems like it opens GameStop up to a lot of customer complaints and returns when customers mistakenly buy a used copy and find out the code to play their game online has already been redeemed (EA Sports, etc).

I have never ever ever ever had a problem finding any game after launch. Amazon will deliver it next day or every fuckin retailer within 100 miles will have it in stock that day.

There are so many viable options for purchasing games I dont know why anyone still patronizes this shit company. If you want to sell a game put the shit on ebay and dont even start with that "I dont feel like dealing with that..." bullshit. As long as you purchase your game say, by that Sunday before the Tuesday release you will get the game on release day, with no shipping cost (maybe .01 cents) and they usually tack on some kind of 10 buck promotional credit for your next purchase on amazon. Waiting on a Tuesday isnt a big deal since most people are working/schooling during the day.

I'm not even sure if here in Canada we get the $20 credits for games like you guys do. I hear everyone all the time "I bought this game, used my $20 from this other game, and got another one to use later." If that was the case, I would use Amazon more often.

HUGE problems with this will of course be with the online code games. Generic_Customer_01 will grab the top copy of NHL 12, go home, and not be able to play online. There are also MANY games where the new copy is as cheap as $19.99 but the used copies stacked on top of it are $34.99.
