[ALL] Genre you used to enjoy but dont anymore ?

Just curious.

I used to love RPG games. Zelda , Landstalker , FF7 and a few other straight Japanese style ones. For whatever reason I havent been able to tolerate a single RPG the last 2 gens.
The star wars KOTOR and Elder Scrolls were the last two I tried and just couldnt get into.

I prefer action RPG as opposed to turn based or that weird system KOTOR had.
Not sure Ill ever play a pure RPG anytime again soon , maybe Ive outgrown them ??


Outside of that sports game in general I just grew tired of last gen. but I did play some Madden and MMA so not completely over it.

For me, baseball games. Used to love playing them, now, not so much. Not sure what it is to be honest.

I'm also done with Call of Duty online. I have not prestiged in WaW, MW2 or Black Ops, although I played the hell out of WaW (which is my favorite CoD online.) Its at the point where it is extremely boring for me, and I'd rather be trying something else.

In the same way, I've gone the same way with the Halo games online.

I've also gotten away from RTS games, but thats been a natural progression, since my primary computer is a MacBook Pro, and my desktop is about four years old, and won't handle many of the newer games. I'm going to have to set some cash aside to upgrade it.

RTS games would be it for me. I use to love Star Craft and World in Conflict. I may actually install that shit again, as WIC was fairly sick game if you had the right people to play with.

when i was in elementary/middle school i would play almost only Mario games. the only Mario games ive really played in the last few years is Super Mario Galaxy.

Battlefield 3 looks like it's going to be great but with games like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 coming out around that time, I won't have time to focus on an online shooter.

I was thinking about this a few years back.

There's only so much RPG's can advance and move forward, while practically every other genre can get improve over time. No matter how amazing the visuals get or cutscenes are, at the end of the day you're still doing the same basic stuff that people have been doing since the first Final Fantasy's.
Before it didn't matter so much, but now that consoles and games are on a whole nother level it's becoming more apparent.

Call of duty 4 was probably one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Since then the series has sucked.

I'm not really an RPG gamer, but Mass Effect is one of the few that I love play. I could have beaten Final Fantasy XIII a long time ago, but have no interest in it.

I love shooters but there seems to be a big lack of imagination in them.
COD4 was the last one I felt was trying hard to do something new.

RB6 Vegas had cool action but honestly the fact they all but dumped the voice commands made it just another shooter to me.
Ghost Recon dropping the maps/squads and strategic aspects also killed the franchise for me.

Theres so much that could be done but it seems cookie cutter military is what is being strived for.

I got bored of COD BO faster than I have any shooter in recent memory.
Halo Reach was very good but I never bothered playing online.
Im worried I may do the same with GOW3 and end up kicking my console into a river.

Fighting games outside of an arcade where theres an actual threat of getting into a real fight = lame:yes:.

Wrestling games. Probably a combination of growing up and the sport(if you want to call it that) seeming to be more of a drama than actual competition and rivalry. And the modern games just not being all that... fun, I guess.
