Allow me to add by saying that I hope the bridge that NY is going to build in honor of Jeter is more effective at handling traffic than Jeter is at fielding a routine grounder. Things could get ugly!

I heard the bridge will have a higher UZI rating than Jeter.

So, the Phillies are the defending champs, a great team from top to bottom, and they lose to the Yankees in 5 games? Losing 4 straight after winning game 1?

My question is: where do you rate the Yankees win over Philly in the overall list of greatest upsets in sports history? To beat a great Phillies team with the least effective defensive player in baseball regardless of position playing shortstop is incredible...it would be like the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl with Ronnie Brown at QB. I am stunned at this outcome. Here is where I would rank this upset...

1) 1980 US hockey vs. USSR
2) 2009 Yankees vs. Phillies
3) Buster Douglass vs. Mike Tyson
4) SB III Jets vs. Colts
5) Appalachian State vs. Michigan in college football

But, as we all know, the gold glove is such a political award that they usually give it to the worst fielder in baseball regardless of position....so its not that surprising for Jeter to win a gold glove. Kinda like how Jason White won the Heisman that one year.

THEY are the ones that reviewed every baseball hit to Derek Jeter (and many others) over a long period of time, and unless you have done something very similar, I don't think you are in a position to challenge their expertise.

I think we can both agree that Football stats and Baseball stats are different.

I don't necessarily agree that baseball fielding is objective yet just saying what he's referring to. Not really defending him either. We won't have objective fielding stats until Field f/X gets released to the public.

Not sure if it's a matter of cost or logistics, but the amount of raw data will be so huge that it will be pretty difficult to manage.

I'd take Jeter over any shortstop (not named Cal Ripken Jr.) that I've had the pleasure of watching during my lifetime. He's got 3 gold gloves and his range really isn't as bad as people make it out to be (mainly because everyone who doesn't love the Yankees hates the Yankees).

You could say that he would have been better suited as a center fielder, but then he may have had to spend more seasons playing AAA because of Bernie (when Jeter came up as a SS, Bernie was just breaking out as a great CF) and you don't know what would've happened to his career because of that.

I'd take Arod over Jeter at SS all day, any day.
