I wouldn't really tout Carl Crawford at the top of your lineup. Gonzalez was a 114 OPS+ guy last year. It's a good team for sure, but it's a better team on paper than I really think they are on the field.

The Dodgers are fucking stacked and they're doing so without emptying out the minor league system. Dodgers only gave up two decent pieces in the Boston trade (De La Rosa and Webster). This team is built to last while the minor league system improves - which they've been doing domestically (I'm really pleased with the recent draft) and internationally (Yasiel Puig highlights a group that includes a whole bunch of other international players you've never heard of). They improved the rotation the best possible way they could've (without giving up young prospects or draft picks) and it looks like the team STILL has the ability to add pieces and get better.

Trust me, I've been here before, don't buy into the hype until the team performs like that on the field. I learned the hard way as a Redskins fan that money doesn't always equal success.

But that's not a reason to NOT get them. If you can get a top prospect it's probably a good idea regardless of the success rate.

If the Angels played .500 baseball before :trouty: was called up, they would've made the playoffs and no one would begin to question whether trading for Greinke was a poor decision. Blame Pujols.

It was a great decision at the time for the team, they were making a push and they gave up some guys for it. Not upset with that trade, it's not like some shitty team like the Royals trading a bunch of prospects for two years of an expensive...oh..oh wow.

I'm merely putting him where he goes. The Dodgers got about zero production from the number 1 spot last year so 114 OPS+ would've been welcome.

The moves the Dodgers are making remind me too much of last years' Angels and Marlins. You can't just sign a bunch of big name players to huge contracts and expect all the egos to mesh. Chemistry on a baseball team is very important. The teams that have won championships in the past decade with exception of the Yankees have built from within and added a few key pieces. The Dodgers seem to be just signing and trading for big names without regard for how they'll fit in to the overall plan. The Giants are absolutely the team to beat in the West until the Dodgers prove they are more than paper champions.
