Fuck my life it kills me to hear a potentially good melody crushed to the bottom of a recording by disgustingly harsh guitar (and I love me some harsh guitar, just when it's done well) and left to die with the nonexistent drums.

Anyway, it's hard to even put into words how bad 'The xx' is, among others on the list.

I can stretch my listening into the off-indie/post-nothing stuff, but I just didn't hear anything that was worth two shits on the whole list for my taste (after at least a minute of listening on each song).

To each his own for sure, but heelswxman, if these were your favorite albums of the year, God you missed out on some good stuff in all sorts of other genres.

I know your scene. I bet you get pretty pissed when people call you an emo kid. Thing, is people don't even know what emo is. To me emo is Rites of Spring, Sunnyday Real Estate, Fugazi. That's what I listened to, I also listened to hardcore. I think the latest wave had a good start with some of their bands, but somewhere along the way they got way too high school little girlish. Alexisonfire even lost their edge. Last I heard Alesana was still rocking pretty hard, actually saw them back before they ever hit big back in NC. And fucking Chiodos. They had one of the best albums of the decade.

I just grew up I guess, and the music didn't.

I didn't want to just post stuff from this year, from your list it didn't look like you expanded your horizons that much so I figured I'd just post some of my favorites.

The Spill Canvas is what a bunch of high school girls listen to. But listen to that EP, it's fuckin' baller. All on youtube/purevolume for streaming.

Bone Palace Ballet was ridiculously badass. With you completely on that one.

And again in agreement with you on people don't know what emo is. Stands for emotional, not hardcore/screamo. People are retarded. Anything from Dashboard Confessional's early stuff to Thursday to Fugazi can be classified as the original definition. Shit pisses me off haha.

Doesn't bother me as much as people not knowing the actual definition, but when people go straight to 'emo' when they see that I have long hair, well that just proves to me that said person is a complete idiot. Every guy with long hair = emo? Then the 80's was probably catastrophically dramatic.

EDIT: Monty Are I is about 1000 times more creative and just better than Alexisonfire.

And Kay Kay was the only band on there that I figured you might end up liking.

Hey Heels, great list man. Have to agree with it, I liked seeing The Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear, and Gallows on the list. The way the list was going, I was surprised not to see BRAKESBRAKESBRAKES or The Mountain Goats.
