Every off-season it seems we want to force this. It really makes no sense.. hes done nothing but hinder our WR corps with his drops, slips, or anything else he has to do to not catch the ball. Only the Bears would want to eliminate someone from what he does well to promote him in a position that he sucks at.

Exactly. People can say its dumb all they want. But Manning when he was there and Knox did the KICK returns just fine. Last year when Devin did the KICK returns he was very below average.
All they are saying, is, your main job will be returning punts now. Not a big deal. He is best at PUNT returns, so he can focus more on that.
His only job as a WR in the slot, will be to run straight. Not even he can screw that up.
He may be best at punt returns but there was a point when he was returning 2 KR's for a td a season. If you returned two kicks for touchdowns you use to generally be thought to be one of the better returners in the league.
I believe if he focused solely on returning he can return to that form. There is no reason to use him as a receiver, slot or starter, decoy or not. Everything he is capable of as a receiver is easily replaceable.

I mean 19 return TDs is a pretty good return.
He had 2 in his first 2 seasons. Then only 1 KO return in the past 4 seasons. The new KO rules fucked his shit up last season. He he just is not as good at it for some reason now.
You are right about the reciever, however the future of Jonny Knox is in doubt, and he will be told to do nothing but run straight, and his speed is not easily replaced.
His production as a returner dipped because he was just getting worn out. He wasn't returning as well because he was playing offense. Not because he just suddenly fell off the wagon.
And you don't just put someone at receiver because they're fast. You can pick any number of players off the street or in the draft for running straight or because they're fast.

As for the offense, it will probably look similar to what its looked the last two years when Martz had his balls cut off. Some what of an balanced offense. The big difference this year for me, is to see how flexible the offense will be. Martz was stubborn, and did his shit no matter what. So hopefully Tice will be alot more fluid.
