He openly told people that was the long term plan for him. Hester being a WR was set in motion by the team. Not by any demands Hester made.

They had just begun to roll out IE7 with new computers when new employees came aboard or people were up for a new PC after 3 years with their current PC.

Lots of companies are very conservative with technology which results in falling way behind on technologies. They test the living shit out of everything before rolling it out. Happens a ton in bigger companies. When I left some areas of the company were still using Java 1.4.2 which had been end of life since sometime in 2008. But it was familiar, tested and solid so they continued to stick with it and had no plans to upgrade.

As a nerd, this all drove me crazy. I tend to like being on the bleeding edge. This company tended to live as an EXTREMELY late adopter.

AT&T right? I think I knew that. As a developer, I too had admin rights which I was quite pleased about. I would install things against their IT framework. Most the time no one said a thing. Occasionally they would catch me by scanning the daily backup of PCs and ask me to remove the software. I did manage to figure out how to turn off the backups as well. They figured that out pretty quickly though.
