It's only one game. I wouldn't draw final conclusions on one game. Atlanta stunk last year in game one and won 13 after it. Every team has a bad game, including the 16-0 Patriots. Of course their timing was really off, but again, every team has a bad game.

Although BigBucs has no defense, in Josh Freeman's defense I thought he played well and was impressed he came back from injury. The Bucs defense wasn't very good. LOL at Ronde Barber still being a starter. I also saw a white guy named "Lynch" standing on the sidelines, and assumed they had brought back John Lynch out of retirement.

Truth of the matter is that the Bucs just aren't a very good football team, and their 10-6 record last year was a mirage built on come-from-behind wins over mediocre teams. I wasn't really surprised that they lost to Detroit, to be honest.

The Bucs are just a middling team.

The Lions are on the rise with a legitimate future Hall of Famer at one of the most important positions in the game that has changed the look and focus of their entire team.

The Bucs will be plagued this year because they made no moves outside of the draft (to which, Adrian Claybourn looked good for a first year DE). They will certainly not be better than their lucky 10-6 record last year, but they won't be awful either. 7-9 to 9-7 type year with no playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Lions look like they could really challenge for a playoff spot. Calvin Johnson is on an elite level at the moment and the OL is seemingly coming together a little bit.

Stafford, who limped off the field three times is going to be key. He needs to stay healthy.
