The rumor was three years at $20MM+ per, and it came from one anonymous Mets employee. So that's shaky stuff. I could see the Marlins making a 3/60 offer, sure, but I think they'd present four and five-year options too.

Okay. I doubt they get him for a basic $20 mil per offer. I expect a bidding war to end with Reyes getting 5 years, perhaps a 6 year option at $23-$24 million per year max.

With the Braves open-minded about trading players, the Rockies have contacted them about infielder Martin Prado, according to a major-league source.

The Rockies, who scouted Prado extensively last season, view him as a starting second baseman who could occupy a run-producing spot in the lineup. The clubs have not yet exchanged names but are expected to keep the lines of communication open.

Atlanta, which is seeking outfield help, is willing to consider moving Prado rather than use him in left field. The Rockies have outfield depth to start trade talks. Seth Smith could fit in a platoon for the Braves, and Charlie Blackmon, a former star at Georgia Tech, might satisfy the Braves' desire to get a center fielder of the future if they are unable to re-sign Michael Bourn after next season.

Smith gives you the same production as Prado in less AB's. Granted, he can not hit lefties, and isn't as versatile, but you'd be getting a prospect, too.

Depending on the prospect I'd be all for it. A Smith/Diaz platoon is actually pretty solid, if Diaz can go back to crushing LHP.

Prado is a fan favorite though so that's probably why this is gonna be a hard sell to the fans. Most fans still think Prado is the all-star caliber player he was last year and are expecting more of a "name" in return.

The Braves are not a finalist for Jamey Carroll's services. LOL at two things: Jamey Carroll having finalists, and the Braves for not being among them.

Don't forget, he was a RP for a long time. He was the closer for one year, but was a pretty obscure middle reliever for several years before that.

He has a very low amount of innings on his arm so he's not your everyday 31-year old starter. Only 700ish IP.

This report should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Not only would it be hugely surprising if Reyes signs with the first team he visits with, but we don't anticipate that it will be Sedano that breaks the news of the signing of one of the biggest offseason fish (pun intended). Nevertheless, it's clear that the Marlins are a real player for the shortstop. If he is brought in, Hanley Ramirez would have to change positions.

They are just trying to make a statement right now, they don't expect to land either guy. They are just being very public about being willing to spend money so future free agents take them seriously.

I could see them possibly landing Reyes, but there's no chance Albert goes to from a banner franchise like the Cardinals to a a dysfunctional organization like Miami.
