Although I believe Thabeet be a good defensive player, he needs to develop a consistent inside game in order to merit a HOF career. Right now, he is benifitting from being the biggest man on the court in college, but is still doesn't have the polished post game.

What's going to happen to him when he's facing guys who hover around the same height, but are also athletic. Will he be able to outmuscle and outquick guys like Amare, Dwight.

He might get an all-star game or two based on his defense alone. At UConn, he makes the biggest difference when he is in because of his ability to alter shots in the post and his obvious height advantage for rebounds. However, his NBA career and HOF standards will be measured by all metrics outside of blocks and rebounds, and his ability to put some points on the board.

But since your calling it, that's fine. One man's opinion on that is fine. Let's just not start giving him the throne like people did with Oden.

HOFer might be a stretch.. but apparently this kid shows great work ethic and has improved his game leaps and bounds since coming to UConn. Hes got some amazing raw talent and would probably be best suited to developing on a winning team with a good big man than going to a developing team and being expected to be a star. Hes got a ton of developing to do still. But he'll already be a presence on defense and alters all shots in his facility.

Did you watch the Syracuse game before you said this? He has the best poise/awareness for a defensive big man that we've seen in a LONG time. He never leaves his feet and is always in the right position. He had 7 or 8 blocks tonight before he picked up one foul.

Thabeet didn't start playing bball until he was 15, so the fact he's already where he is makes him an outstanding prospect. He'll learn offensive post moves from NBA coaches, but no one will expect him to put up 20+ a night. He'll be the premiere defensive player in the league for years to come.

i watched the game and i saw him only score 8 points against a poor syracuse team. So he had 16 reb and like 9 blocks. its because they tried to drive into him all the time because the jumpshot wasnt falling.

Never leaves his feet and is always in good position?
He doesnt have to he is 7'3. Kenny George never left his feet either, doesnt make him great. He is always in good position because he stands under the hoop the whole game.

If he was 6'11 he would not be nearly as good.

So because he only had 8 points against Syracuse he isn't great? 16 boards and 7 blocked shots isn't contributing? Lets not give credit to Thabeet being a beast but lets just say it was because Syracuse was driving at him.

Luke Harangody v.s. Seton Hall: 30 points-16 rebounds
Taj Gibson- 19 points - 18 rebounds
Hasheem Thabeet (on January 18th) - 15 points - 17 boards
Dante Cunningham - 21 Points-13 boards
Jeff Allen (Va Tech) - 17 points-17 rebounds

I don't think they've won the rebounding margin in more than 3 games this season.

And Seton Hall does drive A LOT. Pretty physical team.

all of those above are not even comparable to 25-20-9 thats not a big game thats a big big big game.
