Cracked 1:44:9x in practice with Swarley. I've also gotten my optimal time down to 1:44:0x. Now it's a matter of actually stringing together all the sectors without going off track... that's pretty tough for me since I happen to go off track almost every lap.

This week has taught me more than anything that being smooth with my steering inputs is absolutely crucial. I was having a ton of trouble with the corner right before the hill leading up to the corkscrew earlier in the week, but now I've been able to consistently carry speed through that corner without going off track. Earlier, I was throwing the car into the corner, turning somewhat abruptly to try and make the apex, but that would upset my car before I even hit the little dip in the corner. With my car already sliding, hitting that little dip would send me straight into a spin or right out in the gravel -- which then caused me to spin.

Now I've learned to not turn as abruptly and to simply slowly point the car towards the apex. Sometimes I miss the apex and go out wide, causing me to spin. Sometimes my car still gets upset after hitting the dip. But all in all, I'm able to hit that corner about 80% of the time with speed, whereas I was maybe hitting it 10% of the time earlier.

Just did another practice session. Ended up P8 out of 18 with a 1:48.4. Just working on different corners. I feel pretty good about the kink going up the hill and I also worked on the second right hander after the Andretti hairpin. Biggest turns that need work right now are the Andretti hairpin, turn 2 and the two right handers coming down the hill.

IRACING UNVEILS NEW CONTENT SCHEDULE

Hot off the heels of the release of the Dallara DW12, Tony Gardner of iRacing has released a new update, laying out the plans for releasing future content. The list is quite large, with around six pieces of content planned for release in the remainder of the year.

Aussies will find a reason to celebrate, with not one, but two new V8 Supercars coming later this year (they likely will not make it in time for the next build). The 2013 Holden VF Commodore will be making its iRacing debut, while the existing Ford Falcon will be updated to 2013 specs. More deals and partnerships are in the works, so more cars will likely be announced in the near future.

On the road course side, Donington Park is being finalized and will likely make it in time for the Season 3 build. Monza is also in development, and will follow Donington. The oval racing side isn’t being neglected either, and racers will be pleased to hear that the repaved Phoenix International Raceway has a strong chance of making it into the next build (the old configuration will also be kept, similar to Daytona post-repave). After that, Gateway Motorsports Park (a favorite among the Camping World Truck Series) will be added to the roster.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on the Logitech G27 wheel from Amazon for $220. The guy selling that bundle for $250 says he is out of town for 3 weeks so when he gets back I may try and buy the stand off of him.

I know this wont work for xbox one but does anyone know if this wheel will be compatible with PS4?

It's not a definite that it wont eventually work for the PS4, but as of now, only PS3 and PC. There are a lot of people with G27s that are unhappy that there's no support for it yet on the PS4. So we'll see.

I just said fuck it and ignored console compatibility b/c of the prices for the XB1 wheels. $400 bucks. Yeah no thanks.

Oh, and I think I'm going to get into a race tonight. I'll probably do a longer practice session and then hop into a race without qualifying.

When I first started racing with you guys in Forza 2 years ago I was the guy bouncing off of cars in a turn to try and get the early advantage and I feel I've come a long way since then. Should be fun

Ha, yeah I know what you mean. At the start of Forza 4 here I was finishing back of the pack and slowly got better over the years. I have no expectations of winning in iRacing right now, but as long as I have some people to battle for position with, I'll have fun.

I'm not good. Sure, I can run a good lap once in awhile but I'm very inconsistent. My short attention span doesn't help me at all.
