So I participated in a Phillip Island double header tonight for the Race Free or Die World Tour Series. Both races were 23 laps. V8 Supercars, both the Holden Commodore and the Ford Falcon (I ran the Holden). I started from my pitbox for race 1 and made my way up into the top 10 and was able to hold off a late race charge (as well as make a pass for position on a guy that spun on the final lap) from the guy behind me to finish P7. I had to miss practice and qualifying for race #2, so I started at the back of the field. Raced by myself for a chunk of this race. We ended up having a full course yellow for a big two car accident on lap 11. Chased a guy for about 5-6 laps. Just stayed behind him and didn't force anything, hoping he'd get nervous and make a mistake. Sure enough, he did. I again finished P7.

There's a third race for this round Tuesday night. It's a 45 lapper. Gah, I can't recommend this car enough lol.

Less people showed up tonight for the 45 lapper at Phillip Island. Only had 10 cars on the grid compared to 16 last night. But I managed to finish P5. I think I had a car good enough for P3, but a mid-race spinout really shook my confidence going forward and I couldn't put down the lap times I had been.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm way in the back b/c I didn't qualify. My practice time would have gotten me P4 on the starting grid.

Teams

- Teams no longer show a public join button when not recruiting.

- Fixed car preview image and its loading process in team registration modal dialog.

- Changed available registration options when a user is rejoining a session (after withdrawing).

- When renaming "Team [my name]", the team will be created properly, and be counted properly toward the maximum team limit.


Optimizations

- More requests to dynamic web data have been targeted more precisely to conserve bandwidth.

- The "Are you still there" page won't scroll the browser away from the top of the page if it was already near the top.


Hosted Sessions

- Hosted session sub-session details are shown in readable formats now (1 hour, 20 minutes instead of 80 minutes).

- Host a Race and Hosted Races pages' load times have been improved significantly.


Leagues

- League Sessions page's load time has been improved significantly.


Results

- In the event that race event data is still being processed for results, the page will show that state.

- Fixed the 1969 date bug.

- When hosting a session with a restriction for results to be viewed only by the participants, the purchaser of the hosted session may also look at the results.

- We no longer log penalty set/clear events unless it's a Qualify or Race session (similar to get in/out of car).


Misc

- You may now message members from their account profile page.

- Server farms are identified in a more consistent manner, using flag icons with rollover tooltips.

- Hovering a rejected registration button now shows you the reason you've been rejected.

- What's Hot Widget & Race Planner now handle errors more gracefully, and registration error message are shown.

- Setting wind speeds for test mode in KPH should now give the proper upper and lower bounds for that unit after refreshing.



Simulation:


Pit Guy

- There is a new lollipop guy using a new animation system, which allows improved animations. This new system now allows us to save your pit guy to the replay.


Driver Swaps

- Fixed a bunch of bugs involved with the handling of swapping team drivers around that was causing all kinds of different pitting related issues, such as incorrect invalid pit entry black flags when towing, getting stuck in a tow loop if stopped very close to your pit stall but not in it, car physics popping when driver swapping, etc.

- Fixed a bug that could cause the server to fail to release the team's car from the driver if their sim crashed or they closed the sim using ALT-F4 or the close-window [x] button.


Net Code

- The multiplayer prediction code has been improved, reducing the effect of internet latency on braking and acceleration zones. This was already being done for cornering. Now a car ahead of you should not appear to out brake you by as much when approaching a corner.


Radio

- There is a new Radio Black Box accessed via F10 from both in-car and out-of-car.

- Fixed a bug in the radio that would prevent you from hearing people speak or seeing their text chat if the channel you had your transmitter set to was muted.

- Fixed a bug that would cause your radio's transmitter to switch channels if you removed an earlier channel from the radio.


UI

- Revert last season's Relative Standings Black Box changes, now all cars will now show up in the list again, until that code can more reliably detect that a driver is out of their car.


Race Control

- Fixed a bug that was preventing dropped races within a race week from being so marked.

- In Lone Qualify, when returning to pits we now return to the Qualifying-exit stall, not the team's Pit stall.

- Fixed the bug where you could get out of the car if stopped near the pits but in line with your pit stall.


Telemetry

- Fixed the off-by-1 bug in CarClassPos telemetry output.

- Dump team name to telemetry along with team ID.

- Optionally push disk telemetry to memory when a commercial client is running non-official race sessions (for motion simulators).

- Updated setup.


Cadillac CTS-V Racecar

- Fixed speedometer inaccuracy.


Chevrolet Camaro Class B

- Corrected the location of the fuel cell, now the mass of the fuel is a little bit further forward.

So I just did some battling in practice with real life Aussie V8 Supercar driver Fabian Coulthard. It was in the 24 Heures du Fun lobby at Okayama in the 2011 IndyCar.

So some of the bright spots in tonight's hours upon hours of iRacing... Finished P2 at Phillip Island in the V8 Supercars. Then at the end of the night I stumbled upon a hosted race that was the Chevy Silverado for 20 laps at Okayama. Umm... hell yes. In fact, I was just thinking earlier today how fun it would be to race trucks on a road course today. So I did it. Finished P6. It was a blast.

Running a fun race tomorrow for the Race Free or Die league. 3 hour endurance event in the DW12 IndyCar at Indianapolis road course.

So for season 1 I've decided to run the full schedule for World Sports Car Series (in the DP) and the NASCAR C-Class trucks series. Figured it's time I finally run a full schedule and get some iRacing credits back lol. I'll dable in some other stuff from time to time, mostly GT3, V8 Supercars and IndyCar oval. I was going to do the full V8 Supercars schedule, but I'm not big on this season's schedule, so that's going to be pushed to season 2. Anyways, ran a WSCS race this week and Watkins Glen and took P2 in class and P7 overall after a good 25-30 minute battle for P2. It was a blast. Ran two races in the trucks at New Hampshire. I got in a really low split the first one and had the pace to win, but got spun out and then caught up in a few wrecks. KILLED my SR and my iR took a decent hit too. Went straight into the second race. Had the pace for top 10 but probably not top 5. I was able to avoid everything and I played a pit strategy and stayed out as I was banking on a couple late race yellows. I got them and found myself in P4 with two to go. I got pushed wide in turn one and lost three spots but was able to regain one and finished P6. I at least got back the iR I'd lost in the race before. I'll probably run a couple more races in something this weekend.

So since GAW (the sponsor I run on my cars) got a new logo this week, I've been updating my liveries with the new logo and using a new color scheme. I'm really liking how these are turning out so far and the color scheme is giving me a more unified look across my cars I think. I've got the McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Dallara DW12 IndyCar, Riley Daytona Prototype and Chevy Silverado done so far. Next up is the Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore (haven't decided which one I want to run yet).

A couple of fun announcements yesterday:

The new Road Warrior series has less races, but real endurance races. Two 24 Hours of Daytona this month followed by a 12 Hours of Sebring in March (and more throughout the year). Going to be real fun.

Secondly, they announced they are working on scanning the new Chevy Silverado and Toyota Tundra CWTS trucks and they'll be out this year. Should actually be pretty fun, they are going to use these two new trucks for a full-length truck race at Mosport road course in September.

Me and Bauer are going to be participating in the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 17/18. A real, full 24 hour race! Garrett might be our third driver. Just getting the livery ready for the race. The race will include two categories, a Prototype category with the HPD LMP2 and a GT category with all the GT3 cars, BMW Z4 GT3, McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Ford GT GT3 and Ruf Track.

Very excited. I've always wanted to do a true 24 hour race with a team.

I would love to join you guys but with work, getting ready for the SuperBowl, and recently being a new member of the 220 league (and family of course) my time is spread too thin to spend the required time to get ready for these races.

We're pretty close to ready for the 24 on Saturday! We got the setup dialed in tonight. We're not blazingly fast but our setup is pretty stable over the entire stint. I'd much rather be comfortable in the car towards the end of the stints than have the fastest car out there. All about survival.

She's all ready to go for the 24 hour race this weekend! Livery is done and the driver lineup has been finalized for the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Race starts at 8am ET on Saturday and I'll be broadcasting the whole thing on my Twitch channel. JBauer has the first two hours of the race then it'll be my turn. We picked up two other guys from the iRacing forums that both seem to be pretty safe drivers, so fingers crossed we can make it the whole way.

4 1/2 hours in and we're running P5 in the GT class at the moment. JBauer started us off with a strong stint and then I came in for two hours. We're on our fourth driver now and he's running well. No damage so far.

We sustained some damage on lap 226. Our #4 driver got caught up in a gaggle of cars in the infield and turned it into a wall. Hopefully she's still driveable after the 10 minutes of repairs. We were running P4 but we're down a few positions now. Looks like we'll come out P8. JBauer will be driving after the repairs are done.

EDIT: Looks like the repairs were pretty good. We're running P9 and hunting down P8 and P7.

Well, we suffered terminal damage just after the 10 hour mark on lap 342.

I was in the car... A prototype was coming up on me through the tri-oval and I wanted him to go to the inside for turn one but he decided to go outside. So I had to swerve back towards the inside and the car just lost it then. Straight into a wall, head on. Donezo. I feel like such a jackass that it was me who wrecked it out lol.

It was a lot of fun tho and I'm excited to try some more team endurance racing this year.

Feeling a little less shitty... I just checked in on the race at the 16 hour mark and there's only 11 cars left on track lol. Officially a P11 finish for us in GT.
