Regardless, that was a fine-able hit, but he should not be kicked out of the league as a result.
 
I don't mean to kick start the drama in this thread again, but after thinking about it, I'm actually MORE in favor of Harrison.

Say what you want, but the Cribbs/Massaquoi hits were legal at the time. Since then, this was his first incident of helmet to helmet contact. And it's arguably unintentional.

ALL of his other fines (Vince Young, Drew Brees, Jason Campbell, Ryan Fitzpatrick) are pretty poor in my opinion, as the videos I posted would suggest earlier. Anyone who hasn't seen them, I encourage you to take a look at see for yourself - specifically Campbell and Fitzpatrick.

I never really cared for the guy. But I've given him the benefit of the doubt and actually took the time to look at his history. It's not as bad as people think or say.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is considering suspending Steelers OLB James Harrison 1-2 games for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Colt McCoy on Thursday Night Football in Week 14.

The NFL announced Tuesday that Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been suspended for one game for his hit on Browns quarterback Colt McCoy last Thursday night, CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman confirms.

It was Harrison's first roughing-the-passer penalty of the season. A year ago, he was fined $100,000 for flagrant hits on then-Titans quarterback Vince Young ($5K), Browns' receiver Mohamed Massaquoi ($75K), and Saints quarterback Drew Brees ($20K).

At the time, Harrison said "I don't know. I guess try and be more aware about the placement of my face mask. I don't know how you tackle someone and not use any part of your head, especially if you're trying to see what you're hitting. I mean, your face mask is going to touch them."

On Monday, Harrison said he shouldn't be suspended.

"I don't think it's suspension-worthy," he said after practice, according to the CBSSports.com Rapid Reporter Chuck Finder. "I don't think it's worthy of anything, but that's just my own personal thoughts."

I don't agree with W2B's stance.....given his history this seems about right to me....otherwise I wouldn't have suspended him.....just a fine.

I'm not sure he's done enough to warrant that sort of discipline. I don't think he intentionally goes out there to hurt someone, because if he wanted to he could, but he also doesn't seem to worry with trying to "let up" like the rest of the league has done.
 
the hitting him with fines hasnt made him change the way he plays. he gets a 1 game suspension now. next time it may be out of the league. football is a hurt business. you know the risks when you strap on the helmet. i dont know about the hit in question, if its with the facemask, hey its part of the game. if its with the crown of the helmet...then thats different.

One game suspension is about right. Next time it will be a multiple game suspension. You have to cover up a stabbing to get kicked out of the league, oh wait? Sorry ralaw, I couldn't help it.
